12.19.2003 :: The Village of Sandy

I wonder no more, Thanks to Mary. I now know that there are plenty of versions of The 12 Days Of Christmas. If you have not read her response to it, check out the comments in yesterday"s post! I submit that it may be too many. My Dad, when I was a kid, used to sing a version of it that always had things like.....5 French Fries! 4 Schlitz Beers, 3 Pretzels....well, you get the drift! Funny now. But then? Um....NO! This often led to a Christmas Eve war between my father and my grandmother. Ahhhh, the memories of the holidays!

Every year, Thanksgiving weekend, I set up our Christmas Village.

It looks something like this. But usually with more "snow", which I keep forgetting to replenish. My point in telling you this is that I found this at the store this weekend.

This is by far my favorite piece of the whole village! A nun feeding the seagulls, in case you don"t want to believe your eyes! Maybe, just maybe! She is singing. Like the Nuns on Sound of Music. Or....maybe she"s singing one of the many versions of 12 days of Christmas. As long as there are no french fries in her version, we are all set!

No wonder you don"t have time to bake cookies -- you["re building a VILLAGE! And I think the nun"s name is Gidget and she wants to fly . . . :)Kerstin

How fun...we never sang/never sing at Christmas Eve, unless we go to church, which we are doing this year. Even ol" too-cool-for-church Nick is coming with us. (hope hope hope)

Your Village of Sandy is adorable--there"s Nun other like it! *hee* I can"t have a village, cuz then I"d have to clean off a table top....Kim[gibknits@earthlink.net]

We always sang this at my family"s Christmas eve celebration. I always got to do 5 Golden Rings. I would chagne how I did it each time, sometimes like an opera singer, sometimes in a squeaky voice. Sometimes I even did it normally. Thanks for the reminder of a fun time.
