02.20.2004 :: Brigitte is one fine looking girl!

It has been a while since I showed you Brigitte. She's coming along nicely, with the exception of one glaring dropped stitch that I noticed last night. Unfortunately, it is at the part where the underarm is bound off, so I can't figure out how to reach down and fix it. I am pondering a fix as I don't feel like ripping more than half of it out. ~sigh~ ouch. Hurts my knitting ego a tad.

Look, Ma! I've got arms!!

Other than a gaping hole, she's looking good! I'm ready to start the colorwork on the yoke. This sweater is so amazingly fast! I"m loving it!

Knitting Secret Pal Program

Come one, come all. I've heard from many, and I am thrilled. So.....here's the scoop. Please email me your name, snail mail address*, blog address, email address (pretty much every address you can find....) along with your birth date and anything else buddy related:). My email address is to the left of the page. I'm thinking that I will keep it open for a couple of weeks to let the word spread. So, spread the word. Then I will put all names into a hat of some sort and pick pals randomly, trying to keep the pals within their own country, if possible. Any idea of how long you want this to last? A full year might be fun, that way you can include holiday and b-day surprises. Also, I'm thinking that this shouldn't be a major investment. It just takes a little something to make someone feel special. And it doesn't have to be knitting related, or a knitted item, although of course, it could be. It might be fun to culminate with a personal knitted something, though that will be up to you. One thing though. Please be serious. It's lousy to sign up and have a buddy that won't send anything!! So, what do you think? Anything to add? Subtract? Thoughts, please!!

Spread the word...ooooh, this is exciting. And of course, I send a button call out again! Anyone?
*note.....Don't worry about leaving your address with me. I am much too busy to be a stalker. Note to stalkers.....Do not contact me. I will not sell you these names and addresses. No, I won't. Don't bother stalking me! I won't!!

Maybe everyone should tell you if they mind posting overseas, thats what we did with the cross stitch easter secret stitch. Maybe the deadline could be end of the year or something. Though I think it should be a knit thing myself, even though i am a beginner :PVisit me @ http://karen.blog-city.com

I'm to busy to be a secret pal - good intentions but wouldn't have time to follow through. Have fun ok? On Brigitte, crochet hook up the dropped stitch to the underarm, thread a piece of yarn through the top of the loop on the back side of the work, and just weave it in. No problem. If you do it with ends, you should be able to do with a dropped stitch, right? Worth a shot anyway before you seriously think about frogging.Shellee [cadreamer88@yahoo.com]

I"m taking down names!! Heehee, I felt like a principal!! :)
Sandra, I don't see why you shouldn't join in the fun. If I am the self proclaimed rule maker, then I say you are IN. Now....go start a blog! :)
Mary Beth, I think that once a month would be perfect. Like I said, it doesn't have to be big. And a year is what I envision. then a big unveiling event!! How fun is that??
Schroeder and Dava...I will figure it out somehow. Laziness is the mother of invention!!
Kim...thanks sweets! You are so nice to meeeee!
Aven..there are I think 9 (or maybe it's 7,whatever) stitches under the arm that are already bound off. They just sit there, adjacent to the same amount of bound off stitches on the arm. At the end of the sweater pattern, it has me kitchener them shut. Of course, the dropped stitch is in there. Needless to say!Visit me @ http://sandysknitting.blog-city.com/

Brigitte's looking great. The yoke goes slowly at first, but knitting in colour again is fun after so much plain stocking stitch! One question - you say your underarm stitches are bound off? How are they joined together? The patterns I've used so far for Lopi sweaters have had me leave the stitches on holders and graft them together at the end.Aven [amcmast@chass.utoronto.ca]

Yeah, just pick up that stitch and sew it into the bindoff; I have discovered that it's not cheating if it works!Dava [davamunn@rcn.com]

Man, girlie...Brigette is sailing! She's beautiful!

Great idea, the knitting secret pal. Count me in. I'll see what I can come up with buttonwise. ;)Kim [gibknits@earthlink.net]

OH look at Brigitte! She's beautiful! And now you're at the fun part - the yoke. First few rounds are a little slow, but before you know it you will be decreasing and moving along so quickly.

Secret Pal - do we think something 1X a month, roughly is good? Also - it's a secret to the end, right? And then we'll have some sort of unveiling? Signed - Franklin. Or Dishcloth Cotton. Or MBMary Beth [irwinmb@sbcglobal.net]

Hi Sandy - Once again, I am in awe! Brigitte is looking mighty fine. I, too, discovered a dropped stitch - on my sock that I'm knitting with *toothpicks*. The old Sandra would have put the project aside - the new Sandra took out a crochet hook and laddered up! It actually worked! I'm slowly getting there. Sandy, can non-bloggers (I intend to start one soon) join the Secret Pal list? This is a wonderful idea. Also, is there a dollar maxium for non-knitted items?Sandra [luccalady311@yahoo.com]

Here's what I would do about the dropped stitch (remember, tho, I'm the Barney Fife of Knitberry RFD) I would weave it up in all it's bound off nakedness and when I get to the top, I stitch it in place.Schroeder
