11.01.2003 :: Birth announcements!
I'd like to announce a new addition to our family! I have a new nephew! His name is Calvin! He's so cute! Check out his picture!

Isn't he adorable? Do you think I should knit him some booties? Or a sweater set? I can't wait to see him!
And here's another new arrival at the Hurley home!

This is my FIRST handspun! A bouncing baby single ply skein! AWwwwww! so cute! Fiber courtesy of Claudia, the wonder enabler!

Let's not forget the other enabler....Leigh. She sent me some of this purely wonderful wool named Apple blossom. It is so soft! Like, well, a baby's bottom (to keep the theme). I had lots of fun spinning these, but still haven't figured out how to get the thick and thin spots regulated.
Go spin/knit something!

hey-o Sandya...that skein is lovely!
Have you seen that book about spinning dog hair? There is a picture of a little dog wearing a sweater knit of his own fur. (Calvin, watch out for Auntie Sandy!)
I've had trouble with the thick and thin spots spinning with the appleblossom merino too.
Love the spindle!Leigh [leigh@woolflowers.net]

Yikes--you're going to send over Kerspin/Kristin? NOW I'm motivated, LOL! And thanks for the link to the Suki-wearing teenager--I think there's some sort of chemical attraction thing going on between felt and the adolescent brain (or greasy hair, LOL)!Brooks

Daphne, you're right. I dont' believe!
Brooks, what are you waiting for? do I have to send Kerstin over there? I will !
Kim, Bethany told me that if I knit Calvin a sweater, she will disown me. Hrmph!
Marney, JUST DO IT!
Bron, I'll take credit for the handspun, not the puppy! heehee What are you waiting for, girl? Spin! Spin! It's fun...try it! You'll like it ginga din! :)(I love to drag people down with me!)
Stoney, a tam! haha! I'm still laughing! so cute! And I don;t know where to begin to ply! Oh, if only you did not live a world away!
Ruth/Calvin lover! He is a west highland terrier. Check out the breeders in your area. Unless you are willing to come up here and adopt Calvin's brother!
Tiffany, Keep spinning, you will get it. And I am lucky to have the likes of Leigh and Claudia around. What would I do without all my enablers/mentors??
Thanks everyone for loving Calvin as much as I do! He's such a cutie!sandy [thehurley4@comcast.net]

Calvin is adorable--I just LOVE puppies! And your handspun is lovely also. I have a drop spindle myself but haven't yet used it (blushing in shame). Maybe I should take a class for Pete's sake. Happy Thursday!Brooks

Just keep spinning, hon. The thick and thin will go away quickly and you'll have a hard time doing it on purpose. Trust me, I didn't believe my friends but they're right. I can't do it. :DDaphne

Can we spin off Calvin? *teehee*Kerstin

I think Calvin could use a little tam. Bright strong colors would look good on him.
Nice skein. Plying helps with the thick and thin places though. :-)

Really looks great - both the puppy & the handspun. You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din! (Hmmmm...I should change that to, "A better spinner than I am!" hahaha)Bron [graymist35@earthlink.net]
