04.24.2003 :: Must have been something I ate....
I had the weirdest dreams last night. The first one was a nightmare and I won't talk about that, but the second dream I will talk about, because it has to do with knitting.
Here's the dream.....I was waiting in line to enter an old, beautiful, ornate Church. We had to be announced to the parish as we walked in.(whaaat?) I was wearing Inishmaan and carrying 3 scarves in my arms. (Strange in itself, because, of course Inishmaan is not done and I have not knit 3 scarves) Instead of announcing my name, the woman with the microphone said to me, "Should a person felt a scarf done in Cherry Tree hill yarn?" The church grew very silent as everyone waited for my answer. As I looked around, it was obvious that most people had hand knit items on. I had no idea what the answer was, having never used Cherry Tree hill yarn. I finally said, "I would imagine that it depends. You could felt it if you want or you could keep it as it is knit." The woman said, "That's exactly right! It depends!" And the crowd all said it together, "IT DEPENDS!"
I was then led to the back of the church to a pew where two brown husky puppies lay on the pew on an Inishmaan throw. I sat down and said to someone next to me, "Does everyone knit here?" The answer was, "of course, everyone knits at this church."
Weird? Oh yes. So, can you felt with Cherry Tree Hill yarn? I wonder.....
Last night I knit happily on the the cool ocean sock. It goes much faster now that I am not strugging with every stitch!
I love it when it rains in the spring. It really does bring a promise of beautiful things to come! The air is left smelling fresh and green, if you know what I mean. There are tulips popping out of the ground, daffodils blooming, lilacs swelling....Life is good!

I love Dr. Chris's comment! Hey Sandy -- did you notice I was one of the nuns off to side at that knittin' church?
Do you have Depends (adult undergarments) where you live? Just a thought to deepen the analysis of the dream.Pioneer Melissa [pioneermelissa@sympatico.ca]

It sounds like you were dreaming about the Church of Craft.

At least it was not a threatening environment. In my amateur opinion, you are looking to be around more people that participate or at least have a strong appreciation for your skills. A church is a place of reverence and respect; two (of many) attributes that are not necessarily given to crafting arts.Marney [marnita@att.net]

You are too funny. Did I start the dream posting? My interpretation of your dream is this..(spoken with a thick accent) "You are veeling anxiety ofer your lack ov experience in de art ov knitting. You are seeking falidation from de masses in regards to dis. You are also looking vor a place to sit und knit vith oder knitters. The fact dat you do not shoo de puppies vrom the drow shows dat you are accepting ov animals as people. You are seeking a vather vigure in your live.
Dat vill be $100.00 und I vill see you next veek."

haha Sandy! When I dream about knitting it's usually a nightmare about ripping out an alice starmore project by accident. Perhaps an interpretation of your dreams would be: buy some cherry tree hill yarn and make a scarf!Leigh [leighespencer@hotmail.com]

What a great dream. It's cool that you remembered it well enough to write it down. I'll wake in the night, thinking about the weird dream I just had, but by morning the detailed memory of it is gone. I'm pretty sure I've not had any knitting dreams like yours, though!
Can't wait to see your Ocean sock when it's done--sounds like you're cruising right along! Way to go! You've wrestled the problem and won!Kim [gibknits@earthlink.net]

Oh Sandy, I thought *I* had it bad. ;) You have weird dreams like me. I once worked on a database project at work that was giving me trouble, then went on vacation for a few days. Guess what I dreamed about EVERY night during my vacation? Didn't help me figure out the problem either. Lately I've been dreaming that I have all the projects I'm working on finished and am starting on Aranmor..LOL. Daphne [rhapsody@madflower.com]
