06.01.2004 :: Good vs. Bad, the classic conflict

Note to reader: Please excuse my extreme lack of Photoshop skills

I took Charlotte out to get some sunshine.

Nice!
? Good Charlotte (not the band)

not so nice
? Bad Charlotte

There are no vertical lines on the left side of the shawl. Now, to the future, casual shawl observer, this may not make a difference. But. Now that I know, it makes a difference. So. What are the options?

1. Look the other way and don't make a peep. An attractive option, even for me

2. Rip it out and start over, making sure I figure out the line issue.

Hmmmm....looks like I will have? a decision to make. What would you do? (WWYD?)

Now, I just can't leave the my little pony thing alone. Care bears can kick my ass? Sure, Grumpy Bear could obviously beat me. In a teddy bear minute. But Funshine bear? Come on! I could take him!? Love a lot bear?!! Oh! I?laugh in his little pink face!?However, laugh a lot bear is a toughy. ?He looks sneaky and wiley. I think he will use the mental edge to get the better of me. I had better beware the laugh a lot bear!? I'll be looking over my shoulder.

Knit on. Have anything you could rip with me so I wouldn't feel so lonely?

If it makes you feel any better, I just ripped my Mermaid Sock. It was just too small.

I would have ripped that mistake on Charlotte too, I would have known it was there and it would have bugged me, so I understand and I am sorry. But it will make you a better knitter... really! (ok, maybe not, but I am trying to throw you a bone here! lol)Alissa [alissa@knittingfairy.com]

Oh good lord, I would cry. And cry and cry and cry ;)
I'd probably be ripping while I was crying too! If you want to have a gorgeous shawl to cherish forever and ever... then I would rip it.
But I wouldn't like it. ;)
Oh, I'm a My Little Pony too.Donna [danae@optusnet.com.au]

I hate to say it Sandy, but I would rip. And I never rip...but it will probably bother you AND be more noticeable when you block. Just think how much quicker the second time will go!

Now, who is the Annie with the bunny? And where can I find a picture of the little angora~ is there a blog link?!?Annie

I'm not a big ripper, but I have had to rip twice on this one so far. There is just something about a lace pattern that drives me batty that way...so I say rip away.Becky [unravelings@earthlink.net]

It would drive me absolutely batty, but of course I'm the one who is kept up at night knowing that I have ribbing errors in my "scarf of indeterminate length" If it were me, I'd cry, and then I'd ripLa [mysticslady9@aol.com]

I had to rip my Knit Behind Charlotte when I realized that somewhere I had dropped a stitch and couldn't figure out where the heck it was. I'm in the groove now though and tearing up the pavement! I'm trying to get Knit Behind Charlotte done before Saturday when I go to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkahban. I'm going in costume as Professor Trelawney. I also cast on Spot On - for this knit along. Only a dozen rows or so and I'm totally out of stitch markers.Nathania [n@nathaniaapple.com]

You might as well rip it because although no one else will notice, it'll be the only thing you will notice!elaine [emkselfridge@cox.net]

Well, you certainly got tangled up in your web there, spider lady. (What the HELL are you doing over there? teehee) I had to rip a couple of times, too. And it didn't hurt a bit. Ok, it hurt a little. Pour yourself a Diet Coke and get on with it. Time's a wastin'! If you need a private tutorial, give me a holler. I charge by the row. ;)Kerstin

I ripped mine a few times, around row 50 and 80, I believe. But it felt wonderful to do it over correctly and in the end, I'm certainly much happier with the shawl.Samantha

If you don't rip it out, it will bother you. If it make you feel any better I made it to row 70 to have to rip the entire thing. I am now on row 8.Amanda [dav5180@yahoo.com]
