05.27.2004 :: By George, I think she's got it!

Charlotte, Route, er...Row 66
The rain in Spain falls mainly on my plain, baby! I have got the hang of Charlotte and there is not stopping me now!? Many much thanks to Uli! Without her magical spread sheet, I wouldn't know if I were coming or going. Stitch Markers! Use them. You will think, like I did at the beginning, that you do not need them. You DO!? Charlotte is just a repeat of those 8 stitches. It helps to only see her as 8 stitches. Not so intimidating. Once you get the rhythm going, it is clear sailing. If I can Charlotte here, I can Charlotte anywhere!? I do have to admit to having to start over, let's just say, more than 5 times. In reality, probably more like 10 times. 10th time is the charm. But, it gave me lots of practice. And to start over with Charlotte isn't very painful in the beginning because there is only 7 cast on stitches. If there were 300 stitches, I would have thought twice about restarting so many times.
If I hear any more thunderstorms in the wee hours of the night, I may just scream. Bethany is very afraid of thunder so she hasn't slept in 2 nights. Makes a cranky Mom, I'll tell ya!? Poor thing starts shaking and trembling. There was a lightening incident when she was about 6 that is burned into her psychi. I understand, but it so hard to be continually understanding every night at 3 am!?

Awwww, poor Bethany! Tell her she's not alone. I don't like lightning storms either. Thankfully, my kids have always slept through them. Yay, you're on to Charlotte and her mysterious web! I'm on row 113. Despite an awful chest cold and activities up the whazoo this weekend, I Charlotte on! (P.S. We found a new house. NEW. Brand new. Still under construction. Yay!)Kerstin

Scared of lightning? DH has been struck 3 times by lightning. 2 times indirectly and one time direct. Another time it struck the wing of the plane outside his window. He has shrapnel(?SP)in his arm due to his brother shooting him, accident. Or was it. Both brothers threw him off the roof of the garage with a sheet for a parachute. Hmmm. Maybe his family isn't as close as I thought!

Your Charlotte is looking great. Like the colors. Once you understand the pattern and how the stiches increase, it's easy although I have to pay attention not to miss a yarn over.Vera [vhanna26@msn.com]
