07.19.2004 :: Holey Fingers, Batman!
Are these turning into Church gloves? Holy?
Holey, not Holy!
Following the directions, I "M2" (make 2) at each edge of the finger. Thus leaving a gaping hole. Seems as if these will get a tad chilly, don't you think? I do think I need to pick up stitches to attatch the fingers together. Now there is a novel idea, no? Or. I could leave it as is for some well needed ventilation. Don't want my fingers to get all stuffy!
Dream a little dream for me!
I had a dream last night of my friend who recently died of lung cancer! He told me he came to see me to tell me he is okay. I told him I didn't know how he could be okay and then he hugged me, transferring to me all the wonderful feelings. He really is okay. Peace, serenity, happiness, health. It was all there. I am thankful for that message. I feel blessed today as I go on my way. Holey gloves and all!

My moms two cents worth are that the holes are supposed to be there to give you ventialtion and flexibility so i dunno i would leave them but that is just me! i wish you more great dreams like that one

How wonderful to have a visitation. He must be a special person to be able to come back and give you a hug.
When you pick up the just twist it to close it up. It's hard to make glove without holes. Leave a long tail on the yarn when you reattach and use that to sew up the holes. (Even the experts do that!)

I had the same problem last week when I was knitting some mittens. But since I was working with some mohair (fuzzy), I just stitched up the holes when I wove in the ends.
I'll be watching for your M1 solution for the next time I knit mittens or gloves!

Wow, that's cool. A message from infinity and beyond! Holey moley Catwoman, those are some well-ventilated gloves. I know there's a trick to preventing those holes, just don't ask me what it is. :)

Holey or not, they are so beautiful! What method of M1 did you use? I learned the hard way with Audrey (who is now deceased, thank you very much) that there are several ways of doing M1. But you already knew that. I'm just telling myself here.

When I make gloves I usually take a crochet hook and pick up two stitches from the finger already made. This eliminates the holes. Hope this helps. N
