07.26.2004 :: Conwy socks! Insert Foot!
Sock it to me!
The pattern is from Knitting on the Road, Conwy pattern
The Yarn is Lorna's Laces Shepard Sock in the colorway motherlode
Needle Size: US 1
Here's a closeup of the stitch:
Cold toes anyone?
It's a chilly morning here, I think I'll wear them a bit! I did alter the pattern a bit to accomodate my taste in socks. I like a short cuff, so I shortened them and consequently did not make the shaping of the calf, since these do not reach my calf!
How much do I love thee? Priceless!
This is my first lorna's laces and it won't be my last!

Gorgeous, Sandy! I thought Motherlode was a darker colorway. If I had known it was this bright and purpley, I would have tried to win some. Waaaaaah. Love the patterning. Patternworks has a tiny bit of Lornas. Don't know of anyone in the area with a good stash of it. Too bad because it is fine stuff.

OHHH So pretty! I am afraid to try patterned socks. We did not see any Lorna's in NYC did you notice that!?

Your socks are absolute perfection- simply gorgeous. And you knit them so quickly! Quite impressive.
I can't believe that it is cold enough to wear socks where you are. I think next year we may have to vacation in the Northeast. Sounds refreshing.

Beautiful!! You can bet that my two pairs of Conwy socks will NOT be my last. I love that pattern and I LOVE Lorna's Laces! Gorgeous socks. I have never used that color before. So pretty.

Lovely! And you sucked me in - My Lorna's arrived on Friday - in "Iris Garden". I may never knit with it, I think I'll just carry it around as a binky.

Great socks! The Lorna's Laces is scrumptuous. You're a regular FO machine, sweetpea! xxoo

Your socks looks wonderful... I wouldn't be able to resist putting them on either. Gotta get me some LL!

Those are so nice! I have that book but haven't looked at it lately. I think I'm going to have to go back and revisit that pattern.
Funny thing is that I made The Whitby Socks (also from that book) with LL Motherlode. http://www.thesmooch.com/archives/2002/June/15.html#000176
dodododo-dodododo...that's the Twilight Zone music!

Wow. You blew me away with that one. Those are the purtiest socks I've ever seen, Miss Sandy! They seemed to pop up out of the blue. The color is so pretty with the stitch pattern. I could not find a little hole in the heel - it's perfection. Gotta get me some of that LL. Thanks for your nice comments about the Granny sweater!

Socks look fabulous. I love the color and the pattern looks great. I have to wait and finish some other things...start and finish some more before I can use my LL. ::sigh::

Thanks for posting about the Conwy socks. They are so lovely! I am making a pair for myself, too. I'm using the Lorna Laces Shepherd Denim colorway as the pattern calls for -- only because someone sent it to me in an exchange. I'm enjoying knitting with this yarn, and seeing your finished socks is spurring me on. Thanks again.

Sandy, I emailed you about these before. I am on my last decrease on the leg and I noticed that the pattern is off around the decreases. The twisted cable stitch starts then stops and I have a gap of about 4 rows of ribbing. I thought I followed the pattern, but now I wonder.... Did your socks turn out this way? Or did you cast on the 72 stitches and decrease to 60? I am wondering if I couldn't just cast on 60 stitches.... I would be interested in your input. Thanks.
