08.12.2004 :: Sock-o-rama
Whew! This getting back to the real world after vacation is for the birds! I'm having trouble going to bed on time, getting up on time, staying awake through an entire afternoon. I guess it will get easier!
I believe that the name of this blog has changed temporarily to Sandysknitting Socks! I am on a sock frenzy of epic proportions. That's why I wanted to drag you down with me and give you sock yarn!
Sock, anyone?
This is Mountain Colors, colorway Red tail hawk. (you can get some too from the Threadbear guys! ) The colors are rich and warm, the yarn luscious. It is one of my favorite sock yarns. The pattern is called Cabled Foot Wrapper and for the life of me I cannot remember where I got it. But I"m guessing I bought it here. The pattern is fun with the cables and twisted stitches.
And speaking of socks (we were, weren't we?)
I found a little store I like to call, The Daphne Yarn Source
She was selling off some of her beloved stash and well, I thought I'd take some off her hands. I'm like that. Unselfish. Always thinking of others. heh!
What a shocker!! Sock yarn!!
Some Lorna's laces. Tuscany and Vera! Lovely as per usual. And what a treat to have them all balled up ready to go! I do not have a ball winder. Was that a collective gasp of horror I just heard? I know. I call myself a knitter? The horror! I do it the old fashioned way. Put the skein around my knee and wind. No one in my family will stick around when they see me coming with an unwound skein of yarn! Even Fig the cat runs away now! Was it something I said? If I plan this right, I can have free control of the TV while doing it too! Evil, I am.
So, it looks like the sock knitting is here to stay. For now. I may as well make the best of it, while it lasts. I'll have very warm, attractive feet come this winter.
Be sure to enter to win the lovely mountain colors yarn if you havent' already! One entry per, please. (see yesterdays' post for details)

LOL! I don't have a ball winder either. I actually enjoy winding the yarn myself since I am such a yarn addict. The new LLs and the Red Tail Hawk are all just gorgeous.

I love the Vera colorway! Nothing like it in my stash...is that a good excuse to find some for...me!? Red Tail Hawk is gorgeous and also love Moose Creek by Bearfoot. Plus I have Cherry Creek (I think that's the name) oh dear..maybe I have enough to do.

I use the knee ball winding method as well. It seems to work quite well for producing a wound out from the center ball, but I can't get nice, pull skeins. Do you have a good 'knee' method for that?

Love that sock you are working on. The new sock yarns are gorgeous too! I enjoyed the pictures of your vacation. Living in NH, I forget the beauty that surrounds us.

You are positively sock crazy! Love all the new pretty colors. You're going to have the best dressed feet in Beverly!
You had me blubbering through my websurfing after your post the other day. Glad to hear that things are getting back to normal: can't wake up, too tired to work, but happy Sandy normal. :0)

I've really been into sock knitting lately myself and I've been wanting me some of that Mountain Colors to try out. I love the colorway you're using.

I have the ball winder. Just spent 2 hours untangling a ball winder ball that imploded on itself when I pulled from the center and there was a mess in the middle! Bet you never have that happen with your hand-wound balls! Lovely socks and yarn!
