01.17.2005 :: Peace out!

Who's been sleeping on my Everyday Cardigan?

Caught in the act! ~ Please excuse my thumb that got in the way! Fig was trying to find a warm place for a nap and this everyday cardigan drying on a sweater rack looked inviting to him. Looks guilty, doesn't he? He was in the process of his getaway at this point.
And speaking of Everyday Cardigan. I think I could knit one of these per year, I love it so much. So, I'd like to introduce you to the makings of the EC, 2005! Color: Buffalo Brownski Peace Fleece! When I knit with this yarn, hearts come floating out of my head. Actual hearts.

Let there be peace on earth.

Is Mary Beth feelin SASS-SAY? Hee!

What a great idea! The Annual Everyday Cardigan! I LOVE the color of your 2004 EC, and Buffalo Brownski will be gorgeous on you. I want to make another, and I'd like to make the My Favorite Cardigan that Mary Beth was wearing up at Rhinebeck--wasn't that the one with the cables?

Have a great day, and consider yourself hearted. :) xxoo

Hi everyone,

I just recently found out about the whole issue of cruelty regarding a majority of the wool we have here in the U.S. -- mainly because most of our wool comes from Australia and their shearing and sheep farming practices are appalling. Like many people, I assumed that wool was animal freindly because the animal isn't being killed for it's hair. So now I'm fairly upset about the whole thing.

I'm told that buying wool from smaller, local farms or companies is the way to go toward finding places which treat their animals well and was wondering if anyone had any info on this. I don't want to stop knitting with wool, but I can't bear the thought that animals were tortured because of my knitting habit.

See, I'm not sure if this wool they speak of from Australia is mainly used in machine knit items or if it's used for finer yarns sold at yarn stores for hand knitting. I just want to make conscious choices about which companies I support and would appreciate any info anyone can give me. I've tried researching online and -- aside from PETA (which suggests not using wool at all) -- can't find any info on farms or companies which treat their animals well.

Thanks everyone in advance. :-)

My favorite sweater this winter is Banff, made from Siberian Midnight Peace Fleece. And I just started the Peace Fleece "Sassy Cardigan" and am using Ancient Fern. LOVE the yarn.

Keep warm.

I heart Peace Fleece, too. If my stash wasn't overflowing with other s**t, I'd buy some. Enjoy your fleece piece!

OMG Sandy! I thought I'd read one more blog before I went to the little knitter's room, and your comment about the hearts coming out of your head almost sent me over the edge.............

If a sweater makes you that happy, and looks as good on you as the previous version does, then why would you ever knit anything else?
I am knitting a sportweight knock-off of Everyday, hoping it will look as nice, but secretly doubting I will be that lucky.

Oh, yay for Buffalo Brownski. I just can't WAIT to get going on mine. Poor Peace Fleece. It's been sitting over there unused (except for the thrummed mittens) for so long. I love it so. I want a jacket from it. Peace out!
