01.26.2005 :: a quickie

With Derek gone back to college, it's again quiet around here and my chance to post pictures has gone as well. Remember the USB problem? Yeah, well, it
wasn't solved, just ignored. I'm especially good at that. Ignoring. It's a life tool.

Did you ever play the game, " I WONDER"?
It goes something like this:
I wonder if I'll ever get used to Derek going off to college?
I wonder if it will ever stop snowing?
I wonder how long ~insert family member name here~ will leave that shoe/dirty cup/dirty socks/candy wrapper there if I don't pick it up?
I have to tell you that I have not ever been able to win that one. I have tried, believe me. I leave it there. And it stays. And not one person notices except for me. It continues until I just can't play this game anymore. I guess it's fair to say that I'm not good at games.
Speaking of snow:
More snow today to add to the bunch.

Free snow to all. Plenty to go around!

I thought I was the only one who played that game "I wonder how long it will stay here...." I also have the same basket on the steps that Jean mentioned, but it could pile up to the ceiling before anyone would take their own stuff upstairs. Is it possible to teach an old dog new tricks?

Kinda like my basket on the stairs. If I find something downstairs I put it in the basket. As someone is going upstairs they are **supposed** to glance in the basket and take their stuff upstairs. I need to follow through and throw something out. I bet it'd only take once...

I've never heard of *someone else* picking up cups, plates, lolly wrappers and the like! What a novel concept! ;)

Ah, I am commenting right after Mary and I wish it were just male humans. As it is the only male in this house is at least a little bit better than any of the younger females. I am constantly on their collective case. And I always finish up with, "Oh! That's right, you left it for the maid! I mean, what are we paying her for anyway? We wouldn't want her out of a job would we?" Only that is one job I wouldn't mind being out of. Well, not if it meant trading it for the kids. I guess despite it all I still want them around. BTW-After a year and a half I am used to Gillian going back sometimes, but I had a hard time this time around. I think it is a step forward a slide back....... But I do think that moms of boys have a different kind of attachment. I'm thinking you really may never get used to it. That would explain why my mom was sewing buttons on the shirt of my 35 year old brother. PUH-LEASE!

This past weekend, I decided to see if anyone else would budge to empty the kitchn garbage.....nope! I waited alot longer than usual, but gave in when I was afraid the bag would burst before I could double-bag it. Along that same vein.... a couple of days ago, I actually caught up on the dishes!!I was so pleased, I thought, I HAVE to keep after this! When I came home from picking up my daughter at work, there was a glass and a couple of other things sitting on the counter right-next-to-the-sink. Well! I better hurry up and take care of that before it multiplies! A short while later, son #2 comes in and has a fit...."Where's my garlic juice??"
Hmmm, garlic juice greatly resembles dishwater in a glass! I just thought I was finishing a job that someone else started........

We got 28" in Newburyport, how much did you get?
I only wish that snow translated into knitting time, but it's just more kitchen cleanup and shovelling and laundry and running hot baths and baking cozy cookies (even the kids know that snow means we pack in more calories), so I wait for the thaw.

Give us some of that white stuff, woman! My kids' ski passes are languishing on their dressers, all sad. Yeah...on that "will anyone notice" thing...NEVER. But you already know that!

Will anyone notice??? I have 5 and I play the game "I wonder if ???? thinks about me having to pick this up if they leave it there?" Why can you carry a full soda can but not a empty one? I just keep saying "you gotta love them!!??"

Posted by: aliceknits on 01.26.2005 AT 11:04 AM

It's not a game. No one ever picks that stuff up but us. You know, 'us', the ones who notice.

Sandy, play another game. The answer to that one is FOREVER! Shall I send you North Shore-ites a snow snorkel?

You just make me :-D

Are there returns on the snow if it doesn't fit? I am not sure what size to get. I need something to fit a kids 10 and kids 7. Is there any cost for shipping?

Hoooray! Free snow! You give and you GIVE, dontcha sweetpea? :)

Drive safely. I'll come over & pick up the shoe/dirty cup/dirty socks/candy wrapper. Why is it always more fun to clean someone else's home than it is your own?
xxoo

So what your saying Sandy is that having male humans in the house isn't that much different than dogs!! They make messes, but funny thing, they don't clean up the messes.

oh - dogs don't talk back (usually)!

;)
