03.23.2005 :: To seam or not to seam..

Yes, seaming is up for tonight. I have been fighting a general malaise since being sick. I am recovered but am left with a little bit of congestion that bothers me and a sweeping tiredness that gives no warning. Bedtime has been getting earlier and earlier thinking that I can sleep it off. And perhaps I still can. Can't hurt for the trying.
So, as a nod to feeling crappy I give you
My list of random thoughts for this Wednesday! *your assignment follows list. So keep reading:
~I joined the black water abbey knitalong . I am using the Marilyn pattern (look under cardigan patterns) in the color moss. Their yarn is heavenly!
~I have not yet started the knitting. I WILL finish buffalo brownski first
~It is going to snow 4-8 inches tonight. Oh goody. Will winter ever end?
~The underwear I wore today keeps riding up my butt. I wonder why I don't throw them away? You'd think that wearing uncomfortable undies would prompt a person to at least lose a couple of pounds.
~There is a stray cat that is living on my porch and I feel so bad for him/her. I don't know what to do. I know if I feed it, it will stay. Fig has hissed and spit so much towards that cat, I'm afraid the fur will fly. Literally. But the stray has taken to crying on the porch in the late evening now. I'm going to feed it. I can't watch it anymore. What if he's hungry? I think I will put an ad in the paper too.
Want a cat? It's orange. And cute.
~The smell of meatballs and sauce is making me happy right now. I can't wait for dinner
~My car is so dirty that I cannot see the color. Blue, by the way. I have always owned a blue car. Not on purpose.
~I am extremely excited because I found my favorite bottled water at my nearby Shaw's supermarket. Volvic. Love the water, hate the name. Leigh talked about it on her blog and I thought, "Meh, water is water." Not true.
~Yup. Malaise. Disquiet. Inner ennui. I've got it bad. I must go fondle some yarn.
It can't hurt.
Your assignment, should you choose to accept it
Is to tell me something happy. Something wonderous. Show me a beautiful sky. Cheer me up, damn it! Is that too much to ask??
:)

volvic is much harder to find than the diet coke, isn't it? Whenever I get it, I have to buy a whole case.

we can be beverage buddies! haha!

here's something happy...
there wasn't actually any snow on the ground this morning when we woke up!!
a slight amount of slush - but nothing that should make anyone grumpy. HOORAY!!

Theoretically, spring must eventually come. My car needs a wash too, I'm terrible about doing that. it always just gets dirty again.

Oops that wasn't happy! Chocolate..that will help...promise.

Winter has returned to Utah. 7' of snow in the last 24 hours (in the highest mountains but still...) Winter ennui has us all in her grips but spring is coming....please!
I'm going to do Marilyn, too but have to wait for the pattern... on backorder:(

Funny kid story - my youngest has picked up some bad language from his older male cousin. We heard him call his brother an "a_ _ crack". HORRIFIED, I asked "WHAT did you call him?". Being highly skilled with the comeback, he said "AFLAC! Like the commercial on TV?"
Cheer up, Sandy! Happy Easter!

The world ain't right if your underwear is tight - take em off and go comando, if that doesn't give you a thrill nothing will!

Yesterday I saw green shoots in the garden, a pregnant possum, and there was the smell of skunk in the air. Charming? Well, it can only mean that in a couple of weeks the buds will show up on the trees and soon everything will be in bloom and we will all be saying how happy the sunshine makes us feel. So hang in there!
p.s.: that cat is there because he knows a kind person is on the other side of the door~

Hey there sugardoodle, go see the photos of Sharyn's new little lambs on my post for today. They're a sure cure for what ails you. :)

Blackwater Abbey Knitalong?! Where do I sign up? ;)

you dont live anywhere near long island, do you? i'd so love an orange kitty! ::sigh:: something wonderous? after my whole rediculous break-up ordeal (dont let the word after fool you, it's still ongoing), i've been feeling relatively unatractive and unwanted. unloved, in fact. an old friend contacted me today, out of the blue. we spent 3 hours talking, RUINING our cell phone bills. he told me he's always loved me, and never had the guts to tell me exactly what he thought of me before. whether or not anything ever comes of this, there is hope for humanity. the brightest day could be just around the corner...

I'll do for you what I normally only do for Liv. A bed-time story:

"Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess named Sandy. She owned more Lopi than the Pope-y. She loved to sing, and dance, and laugh, and ... fart. [insert crazy, maniacal, pee-yer-pants laughter] One day she happened upon a little toad. His name was Andy ..."

Man, that Merlot I had at dinner tonight sure hit the spot! ;)

Get out of funky town!

Would it make you feel better to hear that you're not the only water snob out there? My beverage of choice is San Pellegrino. I used to feel guilty spending that much money on water. Not anymore. For some it's wine, for me it's fancy, fizzy H2O.

Sandy - I'm sorry you feel so blech - I hate that feeling and just got over it (almost) myself. When I couldn't get past the inertia...I walked into the room where my kids were to listen to their laughter. It worked every time! Go find the kids, listen until they laugh. Then smile.

I had the same underwear problem one day, it kept crawling and crawling. (I wear bikini briefs, no thongs here!) I finally gave up midday and inspected the goods - turns out I had put them on backwards that morning! Okay, maybe not so much happy rather than funny.

I see daffodils and tulips blooming across the street (of course not in my yard!). The cherry trees are blooming as are the Bradford Pears. Spring is around the corner! We're probably a few weeks ahead of you, so the light is at the end of the tunnel!

All I can say is "Aren't you happy that you aren't the schmuck over- bidding for the Chibi needles?" Or ARE you that schmuck?
Did that work? No?
Oh, once my mom was selling my grandmother's underwear at a yard sale (don't ask) and a guy who graduated from high school with me asked her if they belonged to me. He was going to buy them. Kind of creeped me out. Wait, that probably didn't cheer you up.
Girl, I am out of ideas and no blue sky here to speak of. Sorry.

I will tell you my orange kitty story. Same thing...orange kitty comes by the front door and cries. We feed it. Igor and Kimba hiss.

It is a charming, friendly cat, so in preparation for the inevitable, I take him to my vet (VCA-Wakefield). My friend Sarah manages the place so she takes care of everything. She says, let's check him for chips! So we do.

Turns out he was chipped! We call the owner, she drops everything and comes to be tearfully reunited with Pickles.

Pickles had been missing for A WHOLE YEAR. Over a winter! Lost in Billerica, turns up in Woburn many miles away.

How's that for happy??? Don't say I never did nothing for ya.

;-)

My sister told me yesterday that while she and my four yr old nephew were outside some birds flew out of a tree. He looked up at them and yelled, "Look Mom, a school of birds!"

Don't know if that warms your heart, but it certainly warmed mine!

She's due with my new niece or nephew any minute now and I can't wait to hold a new baby in my arms again and kiss their tiny temples that smell oh so good.

If you'd like some nice warm pictures, you can head over to my blog and check out the snaps I took in Arizona. We're getting snow tonight too. Hope you're feeling better!
