03.30.2005 :: Spring Moss

Bethany has challenged me to knit a sweater in under a year. She tells me that I get too easily distracted and should focus on getting it done. She may have a point there.
So, with only the collar to knit on the everyday cardigan, my thoughts naturally turn to what is next. As I have said, Marilyn is stepping up to the plate. The pattern is over on the blackwater abbey site (go to cardigans and scroll down to Marilyn)
I have had many a discussion, heated at times about the color. Arguing with oneself is not something to be proud of.
Here's my self imposed choices:

Both blackwater abbey yarn, both wonderfully wonderful. Moss on the left and forrest on the right. Yes. Green. I do not have a lot of green in my wardrobe and it's about time to do something about that.
I have 99.9% decided to use the moss. I love the depth of color and the shade is a better one for me.
Can I get it done in under a year? Could my teen be right about me? I'm a knitting slacker?
Here Kitty kitty:
Remember the orange cat I talked about the other day? He/she has taken to hanging out on my porch, much to Fig's chagrin. I tried to take a picture of him for you.
Here's the best I could do. Pardon the winter shocked fence.

"no pictures, please! I'm in the cat protection program!"
We've taken to calling him twinkie. Because he's so sweet? Well, because he/she's kind of chicken. Not too brave. Runs away when we try to get near.
Today the birds were singing, the sun was shining, the sky was blue. My goodness, could it be? Spring?
We'll see.

Oooh, I really love the Moss color, but I can see why the Forest green would run a close second.

Does Marilyn have as many bobbles as I think she does? I wonder if I could get away with omitting them if I make it my next project. I have an aversion to bobbles. Not making them. Wearing them.

I'm hosting a "marilyn along" if you are interested in joining (I've started mine in Iris)

I'm not sure I'll have mine finished in a year (took me 6 years to do Inishmore...)

One of my goals for this year was to knit a sweater from start to finish without working on something else in between and then I said to myself, "BUT WHY?" Love the kitty. Cat Protection Program...hahahahahaa!

Of course you can do it! Especially when you have been challenged. I like the moss better too. Hafta find something else to make in green :)

The lighter colors of Moss will show off those pretty cables better. The kitty is very cute. Have you named him yet?

Forest is beautiful, but there's no beating Moss. I covet that color. And Bluestack. And Chestnut. And, and and...

Black Water Abbey is like Peace Fleece; one color is never enough. ;-)

It's ok to be a knitting slacker. It's a hobby, not a job.
(I love the moss one. Love.)

That's a great "elusive cat" photo -- very artistic! :-)

I want to knit Marilyn, too. Let's not start a knit-a-long - but maybe just encourage each other...

I do have a couple of things that I should finish up first, though... (cough, hack, Inishmore, cough, Little Rivers, cough, hack)...

email me!

I endorse your moss choice, but I have a small correction to point out:
You fed that cat? it's no longer a stray: it's yours. Esp if he's hanging out. And you've named him. Twinkie's a good name.
I lost Simon in the Fall, after 18 years together, orange cat, once a stray, always faithful, never affectionate. May you be happy together through worming and neutering!

I love the pattern...just gorgeous. I like the forest green shade. Cute little kitty.

If you don't have a lot of green in your wardrobe, I think I would go with the moss. You don't want to have a beautiful finished (and very detailed) sweater that you don't wear! Maybe use the green for something smaller and simpler?

Moss! (although the green is lovely too...)

Twinkie is a wonderful pet name! ;)
Why are teens always in such a hurry? Wool improves with age, like wine and women :)
