04.16.2005 :: BINGO!
First of all..
I thank each and every one of you who left a message of support about my flab busting! :) You inspire me.
Is it a sickness? Or an innocent hobby?
From winter 2004 Interweave knits. The yarn is debbie bliss baby cashmerino. I would not have chosen white for this baby sweater had I been in any other "store" than my stash. So, white it is! I had been on the fence about knitting this but how could I resist? A woman at work has a cousin who is in her late 30's and went to the hospital with what she thought was appendicitis. She came home with a surprise baby! SURPRISE! I know! How did she not know? I guess it happens. How could I NOT knit for this baby who wanted to be here so much that she kept it a big secret?
Yeah, I'm a sucker like that!
So, Baby Surprise gets a seed stitch cardigan in cashmere for her trouble. I figure it's the least I can do!
And perhaps you are thinking right about now,
HEY, SANDY! WHAT ABOUT THE BLACKWATER ABBEY SWEATER?
Yeah. That.
A ball of yarn and a needle. That's where it is right now. I ripped out all million and a half stitches (or so it seems) and it will wait for me. The project is not dead in the water, it's just has the wind out of it's sails right now. Only temporarily! I am mulling over ways to conquer the CHART issues.
I ain't afraid of no chart. Even if it IS backwards!
And the winner is?
An ipod now resides in our house. Well, only for the weekend. Derek won it at school. Playing BINGO! Before scoring the coveted prize, he caught some guff from the other youngster in our home for turning old. "Only OLD people play bingo!" She said in her 16 year old wisdom.
At 10:30 pm the phone rang and the words were taken back. Derek won an ipod.
I wonder if they have yarn bingos around?

I just wanted to add myself to your list of supporters. I just starting trying to lose weight a couple weeks ago (I'm down 5 lbs. so far...ya gotta start somewhere...), so I feel your hunger :) I'm thinking about going the WW route, but I'm going to try to do it myself first. We'll see how it goes. I wish you luck and carrot sticks!

This reminds me, I just started a Baby KAL (no particular pattern whatsoever) just so I can get off my butt to knit for my friend!
Do drop by!

I love that baby sweater. White is a good color for new babies. They don't get very dirty at that age. I was eyeing that pattern for the next baby at our house.
Congratulations on the healthy eating plan! I'd be eating pretty healthy myself if the world would stop producing cocoa beans.

i have a coworker who's wife went full term without knowing it. they'd been told 12 years ago that they couldn't have children, and she was in her mid 40's. they'd decided for a new year's resolution to lose weight, because they both realized they were getting "chubby". little did they know. they went to the hospital on christmas eve because they thought she was having a heart attack (gas pain type symptoms) and ends up she was in full labor. they named him noel, lol. he's a cutie!

I love that little interweave sweater and have contemplated it many times. The severe case of appendicitis will look real cute in it.

How about knitting an EZ Baby Surprise Sweater for the Surprise Baby? They're great fun to knit, and you'll astonish all your friends.

Maybe I should go and play bingo more often!?

I went for quite a while being pregnant without knowing. I can't imagine going full-term & not realizing it, but I was five months pregnant when I was finally able to realize/accept that I was.

Yarn Bingo: the cage would be full of little balls of yarn. The cards would look like charts, the markers would be (d'uh) stitch markers, and when you win, you yell "Finn-O!" (for finished object) I like it. Let's play at knitsmiths!

Bingo is great. They play on all the long bus journeys in Chile and it really whiled away the time! If you find a yarn Bingo let me know....;-)

Darn, I play bingo every Saturday night with some friends, I bring my knitting for during the breaks.
Does this realy mean I'm old? NO WAY! Just having some fun and hopefully winning some money for my stash.

What a crazy story! Was it their first? I can't imagine not being able to prepare. Definitely deserving of an adorable hand knit top. And baby clothes are sooo cute. I've been tempted to make some just for fun (and charity of course). What a great bingo prize :)

My college-aged sister loves Bingo. We played for her 19th birthday and I won $200. Not too shabby.
About the WW, treat it like a lifestyle change, not a diet. My partner lost nearly 90 lbs and has kept it off for years. The first 35 were on WW, meetings and all. After that, she just stuck with the changes she had made. It took a few years but she looks fab and feels so much better.

Sandy--I'm on the road to healthy eating and exercise in solidarity; let's do it, girl!
Hmmm...yarn bingo...now there's an idea!

I'm a day late (as usual, sigh) but wanted to add my carrot stick to the crowd...
If it works for you like it did for me, you'll feel better..SO much better that you'll be amazed you ever didn't want to feel this good!
Live long and prosper dearest!
and, OH yeah for the ipod, dude!
xoxoxo
