04.18.2005 :: Stop guffawing, I can hear you!
I am humbled. I fully believed that I would be showing you a completed baby sweater when Monday rolled around. I really thought "weekend project" when I decided upon it.
Who did that? I heard you guffaw!
Yeah, well.
Another craptastic Sandy picture for your viewing pleasure
This is what I have to show after many hours of weekend knitting. I can't say that I knit ALL weekend. But MANY many weekend hours. I guess I underestimated myself. Again.
Do you do that? Think, "Oh, I can knit that in a week! Or a couple of days!" You'd think I'd learn.
Possibly that is my inner knitter protecting me from reality.
Leave me alone, I'm drying my coat!
I set up the sweater dryer on Saturday, washed a sweater and arrived to find this.
He brought his mousie and everything. AND he's posing. Profile.
I love Mondays in Blogland. Everyone's back from their real lives.

What a cute little kitty! Good job with the sweater!

I do that ALL the time. Right now I'm working on a baby blanket that I thought for certain would only take me a month or so. In fact, I was going to make two but since one friend has already had her baby... she'll get a jumper instead. :D

I overestimate my knitting talent ALL the time. What you did get done looks great though. Your kitty is cute, all prepared to hang out with his mousie.

Love your cat! Too cute that he brought his mousie to hang out with him. I love Mondays in blogland too. Probably the only thing I like about Mondays. ;-)

You cat cracks me up. I have a wicker box full of stash yarn that I'm making a blanket with and my kitty actually takes the lid off of it and gets in! That baby sweater...how do you like that pattern? I've thought of doing it.

You are SO nice to make a beautiful baby sweater! Hope your weekend was grand, sweetie.
Fig kills me. What a ham! xxooxxoo

Sandy--My Mom started a baby blanket for my nephew before he was born. It still is on the needles, and Chuck is now 35 and has 2 kids of his own. We think of it as a family heirloom...
Great Kitty Cheesecake photo!

I totally do that. I size up something and think to myself, "I'm going to get SO MUCH of this done this weekend!" and then I knit and I knit and I knit and I knit and I knit and I knit and I measure and I've got... 1 inch.

It looks great though! I personally tend to go the other way, I generally doubt that I'll ever finish anything. Low self-esteem'll do that hehe. Nice cat photo :)

Sandy, I have some "weekend" projects that are on their 3rd year in the basket. I think it is some type of blackhole. Either that or I have gremlins that rip out half the number of rows I have done for the day. And what a lucky little baby to get such a grand gift!

It always takes me longer than I suspect to do anything. I'm a very poor estimater of time.
It's looking great, though, and a baby that is that stealth deserves a magnificent sweater doesn't it?

I love Mondays in blogland as well. Not enough people update during the weekend to suit me...

I swear that guffaw wasn't me. I really think that if we were all honest about how long things were going to knit we would be beaten before we started.

Ah, the best laid plans....
Mondays in Blogland...it takes until Tuesday to get around to everyone. Looks like spring has sprung almost everywhere by now.

Well, silly me. I should have scrolled farther and read your Saturday post --
I didn't have access to the yarn the pattern called for, but the mother to be loves the brown color, so I ordered Brown Sheep Cotton Fine in the color Teddy Bear to make this.
On IK's website, they have some great staff pattern baby socks that would go with it -- not the diamond pattern, but gorgeous socks, anyway.

Is that the Diamond Seed Stitch Baby Jacket from Winter 2004 IK? The reason I ask is because I am nearly ready to start it -- I had ordered yarn for it and it finally came. The baby I'm making it for is due the end of July -- guess I should start soon. . . If it is the same pattern, may I inquire as to what yarn you are using?

Oh! But what you have looks so good! What a lucky baby!

How could you possibly move him - when he brought his little mousie too!

Sandy, it's the rule. Take however long you think your knitting is going to take, multiply it by three weeks, add 4 weeks, if you have any other projects already on the needles, add another 6 weeks, and then change the calendar year up one. Yep, that's how long it's going to take. Follow the rule and you'll never be surprised again :).
