05.12.2005 :: Diamond-Seed Baby Jacket

Surprise Baby Sweater is finished! This cute little sweater is for a woman that had a baby when she thought she had appendicitis. Baby Hailey was determined to be here by keeping herself quiet. I thought she deserved a cashmere sweater. Be warned, though, this is NOT a weekend project. This sweater was started on April 16th, fully intending to be done on April 19th, here it is, finished on May 12. That is one LONG weekend!

I wonder if the light around here will ever improve enough to get these colors right? Here's one with flash to remind you of the colors. Then you can go back to the shadowy ones to get the texture. A multifaceted experience.

And yes, I kept the crocheted edge. I agreed with those of you who said that it would not match the linear design, but when I saw it, I loved it. So it stays.

What is a finished project without a modeled shot?

Looks great, don't you think?

Cute sweater, and I know what you mean: Baby Cashmerino *is* heaven!

Awww! It's amazine how perfectly girly it looks with the pink collar and crochet edging. The version in the mag is on a little boy and the other one I've seen knit up was also pretty boyish or unisex at least. What a great job you did! Love the buttons too.

It is a loverly baby sweater. Now make sure you get a picture of the wee one in it :)

Yeah - J/U and I was hoping you were watching. Did ya hear the news on the upcoming BB? New house (multi level) and it will premier July 7th.

What a darling little sweater... I love the crocheted edging. I will have to try that yarn for a baby project.

Cuuuuuuute! Did she really not know for 9 months?! Craziness.

I love the bottom edge! It makes the sweater look twice as cute! A great addition to an already adorable sweater.

Beautifully done. Love the colours, love the pattern, love the crochet edging :)

that is adorable. Isn't Baby Casmerino a great yarn?

Posted by: Melissa on 05.12.2005 AT 05:30 PM

Congratulations Sandy! It is adorable and the edging looks so sweet! (I agree about the yarn - it will now be my standard for baby knits!)

So cute! I love the crochet edge and think you are so clever to have thought of it. I wouldn't have, but then again, I hardly if ever crochet. Not because I wouldn't like to, just because I haven't. Is the bear being gifted out as well?

i think you did right by leaving the crocheted edge its a nice contrast. great job.

It is beautimous! What a darling little sweater and worth all the time you and thought you put into it. The edging really does look sweet.

The lacy edging was a good choice. Very sweet. :-)

Can you make me one? Pleeeeeeeease? Adult size, of course. It will only take you a few months. :)

It's adorable, Sandy. I'm sure it will be very well received. If only weekend were that long....

What a sweet little sweater! I will have to look up that issue (it's around here somewhere...) & mark it for the future.

Excellent job! I really like the seed stitch color and button band, too. I can NEVER predict how long a knit will take. I can't even predict when I'll need a new skein!
