05.19.2005 :: baby sock, fat bastard and weeds. Really. I'm not kidding you!
Okay, who threw sand in my eyes? That is what they feel like today. The sandman? First thing in the morning? Who ever heard of it?!
~~~
Scratchy eyes aside, I finished one of the baby socks. Koigu, remember? This is a combination pattern of the baby sock pattern from Ann Budd from the latest issue of Interweave knits and my own concoction gleaned from sock experience. The pattern called for a funky type short row hourglass heel that made my mind turn to mush so I switched it over to regular heel. This promptly allowed my mind to unmush.
Let's see, this means one baby sock in 4 days. Seems to me, there are some that knit a whole sweater in that time. I am not naming names. I'm just saying, a baby sock is much smaller than a sweater. I need to fit in more knitting time. I mean, really?! Where are my priorities!
;)
Anyone hungry?
What fun reading all of your American food ideas was! I hope you got a chance to read them! My keyboard can hardly take any more drool upon it.
Let's see..what else have I served? Hamburgers and fries. She did not eat that night. Seems that in Germany they do not often eat big meals in the evening. But does she like her brownies! I am planning another pan of them. Girl's gotta eat! I made rice krispy squares and she has not touched them yet. In fact, I saw an almost imperceptible wrinkling up of the nose when I told her what they were.
We are heading to Woodman's. If one is in New England, one MUST experience Woodman's. It's in the code book.
Andy and I have been married for 21 years today. We celebrated last night with friends of ours with the same day, same year anniversary. We did not know them at the time, 1984 for those who are trying to figure out the math. I happened to have been a very young bride. At age 2. ;) We headed out to Gloucester, promptly finding out that the restaurant we planned on was closed up with a sign on the front selling the chairs and tables. Never a good sign, really. The place we ended up with, although filled with good history was after all was said and done, a local watering hole that happened to serve food too. The highlight of my meal was the glass of Fat Bastard Shiraz. I remember Kate brought a couple of bottles of it to the Circles book signing and it was sucked dry by the time I realized it was there. I'm not naming any name or anything, but.....
And how many times CAN you say that you drank up some fat bastard on your wedding anniversary anyway?
I mean, reallY?
~~~~~~~
Here's the end. I promise. Every time I have typed the word WEDDING here, I have actually typed WEEDING. My WEEDING ANNIVERSARY. Because honestly, weeding is so rare around here that we celebrate it.
Happy Weeding!

We used to sell Fat Bastard at the restaurant I work at. One waitress had a table at which the husband said, "I'd like a glass of Fat Bastard." The wife smirked, "Well. Isn't THAT appropriate." He calmly looked from the waitress to her, and back to the waitress before he said, "Do you have any Shrill Bitch?" I would have paid to see that woman's face!

hey lady, happy anniversary. good going not strangling the man in 21 years. and unfortunately, i know exactly when 21 years ago is, my eldest will be 21 in november, and i married her father in march of 1984. i was a child bride (no, really!) i was 17 when we got married. as for the girl turning up her nose at rice krispie bars, she doesn't know how to live! butter, and gooey marshmallow? you could put wood chips in it and i'd eat it, lol.

I must have a Fat Bastard for my weeding anniversary too. You liar. You were NOT 2 when you married. You were 7. Geesh, trying to slip that one by us. We're not fools, ya know!

Aww..Happy Anniversary to you both! What a wonderful thing.
The Fat Bastard is a dangerous habit by the way, and only compounded by finding out that there is a "Cat's pee on a Gooseberry bush" wine too.

I never liked red wine until I tried Fat Bastard Shiraz, with a name like that who could resist ;)

21 years...BE PROUD! Congratulations. Oh, and I just have to tell you how stupid I am and how smart my daughter is. I made those Fugly socks out of some Koigu and was so unimpressed (by my socks, not the Koigu) that I threw away the rest of the last ball. My daughter, in the process of developing her own stash, rescued it for baby socks. Like the ones on your blog today! What pattern????

Happy Anniversary! Gosh, it just seems like yesterday that I said that from last year. The sock is adorable - how you are getting anything done with a new kid in your house is beyond me!

Happy Anniversary! It's always nice to enjoy a Fat Bastard on one's anniversary, I think.

Woohoo! Your marriage has come of age. It's all down hill from there. We had Polygamy Porter on our wedding anniversary. I think Fat Bastard beats that.
We have so many memories of our visits to NE. Fried Clams is one of my favorites. Yummmm, I'm soooo craving them now!

Happy anniversary! I can't believe she eats knockwurst and sausages and sauerkraut, but turns away rice krispy squares. Next time, tell her afterwards what they are.
Can't wait for my yearly clamcrawl. We did Woodman's, ClamBox, and the other one in Ipswich one year, all in the same day (*burp*). Decided Woodman's rules.

Great minds think alike... I brought some Fat Bastard Shiraz to ladies night last night and had a few glasses myself :-)
Happy Anniversary!!

Just had to comment since my anniversary is on the same day. We've only been married 4 years but it's my second and his third. (We've been together for about thirteen years). Congratulations on 21 years!! I have thought about hosting a foreign exchange student (our church hosts teens from Germany every summer) but wasn't sure if we could handle it. After reading of your experiences, I'm sure we could not!!
