Lately I have been craving something to sink my needles into. Something satisfying. Challenging, even. Then I remembered a pattern I have had for quite some time in my TO DO pile. blue jeans purse from Cabin Fever.
Like a kid on Christmas morning, I couldn't wait to start. I picked out some cascade 220 in what I thought was EXACTLY what I wanted.
Now I'm not so sure I like the colors. What do you think?
DSC04632.JPG
There is something I do not like about it. Is it the white? Is it the gold? Is it the faint resemblance to Christmas colors? I was striving for autumn coloration. I am not sure I succeeded.
I am going to gaze at it awhile and see if I can put my finger on whether I should continue or not.
Out of Sorts!
I am. Out of sorts. I feel as if I'm running to catch up and failing miserably. At home. At work. In friendships. I feel as if things are slipping through my grasp and I can't catch any of it. I wonder why this feeling is so strong this spring? I know this will settle down but it is leaving me exhausted and sick of trying.
I'll be better soon. I plan to get to bed early and sleep it off. That should help.
Step away from the Tostitos!
Fricking tostitos. I cannot eat just one. Or one handful. These and salsa are my trigger food. I will eat them and eat them until either one is finally gone. Do you have those foods that you can't control yourself with? If I am ever with you, please do not leave me in a room alone with chips and salsa. You have been warned!
You must remember this:
Do you remember the star of bethlehem flower that was my Mother's day present? The weed? I have not planted it outside yet. But in one of those universe coincidences that mean something but I cannot figure out what THIS is what showed up in my yard this weekend. It was not planted here. It has never grown in my yarn for the 17 years that I have lived in this house. ADDED LATER:As Susanne pointed out to me, much to my amusement, a Freudian slip was had. Of course, I meant YARD, but wrote YARN. Never catching it once during editing. hee! Thanks, Susanne. Still cracks me up! So, I am leaving it where it landed. Correcting only in afterthought. :)

What does it mean??!

Cabin Fever purse...HEY, I have that pattern too!!, I'd like to make it TOO, Have I ever attempted to pick out the colors, no, but I think what your problem is that it does look awfully Christmassy, perhaps some wild bright spring colors would raise your mood? I wonder where my pattern is.....

There is something weird going on in my life--real world and cyber?? Is it cabin fever?? We're all so ready for spring and summer, that tempers are flaring, things aren't going right, and yet all we really need to do is be patient...and wait it out....

Oh, on a side note--yes the swatch looks Christmas-y...at first I thought that was what you were going for!! Maybe less white and "cold" red, and more oranges, and warm red?? Hmm..oh, and my trigger food is peanut butter. It's not allowed in the house....I'll hold your Tostitos if you keep an eye on the Jif...

But, hey. It was sunny today!

This time of year, on any given weekend, on any given street corner, there are oodles of signs for sales of all kinds -- rummage sales, garage sales, yard sales. How sick is it that my heart went pitter-pat, when speeding by I mistakenly thought someone was having a yarn sale (complete with magic marker sign). I've got The Sickness, I'm sure of it.

Hmm... maybe more of an orange-toned beige and "soften" the green? When I think "autumn"--- gold, orange and red pop into mind... and that soft evergreen color as the leaves fall. I love the bag though... i will have to find this pattern!
i feel your tostitos pain. for me it's brownies. even the fat free ones... whole pan-- gone! yikes! no wonder i am back at Weight watchers!

The flower is a gift telling you that all is well. Life is full of beauty this time of year.
Through in a bit of med. green and see if that sparks up the colors.
Trigger foods...ICE CREAM, floats, malts, a scoop or two or three...thereofore, I just don't buy it...too dangerous.;-)

It might be the beige. It's a very flat beige--you could perhaps try a warmer one, maybe with some heathering in it? The yellow and white are actually quite nice; don't change them, unless maybe you want to try cream instead of the white.

Heck, I'd ask Janine the Feral Knitter. She really knows her stuff when it comes to Fair Isle.

Anything I really really like I generally do in excess...so I can sympathize with your tostitos and salsa affliction. I am that way with *ahem* krispy kreme donuts mmm. I can't just only have one or four.

:) Ilike those colors...by the way!

Nachos! What more can I say, especially when they're dripping in salsa, jalapenos and cheese. I'm drooling all over the keyboard now. I can see Autumn with the colours, maybe not the white though.

I saw the colors of the bag and instantly thought...Victorian Christmas. Sorry! Perhaps a bit of rust might make it more "fall-like." At least, that seems like fall to me. Or maybe put the green and white together and the gold and burgundy together, instead of having the burgundy/green knee-jerk Christmas reaction.

Of course, I think it's just amazingly lovely as is, and there's nothing wrong with a Baroque Christmas bag, after all.

I LOOOOOVE that you said "it has never grown in my yarN in the 17 years I have lived in this house"....great Freudian slip perhaps??

dull spring, which you seem to have had, certainly can't be helping the general blech feeling...hope you see and feel sunshiny soon!

i dunno what it means, but it sure is pretty! and i love the colours in your knitting, it reminds me of fall.

I feel the same way pet, to much to do...can't get on top of it. Oh yeah. I feel it.
Those colours are a little Festive, but I like 'em.

Finally, I can't believe you got such a beautiful volunteer in your garden!

I love all the colors. I think you did a great job making it "autumn" like.

So sorry you are feeling down, have a bag of tostitos's

Posted by: Jenn on 06.02.2005 AT 12:27 AM

FRACK! I'm an idiot! I just saw that it needs to start with "he loves me NOT!" heeheehee

Posted by: Norma on 06.01.2005 AT 11:35 PM

Do this: "He loves me, he loves me not."..repeat around the flower. But you MUST start it in the above way. That's the rule. I think it will come out right. ;-)

The long, gray, wet, cold spring can't have helped your mood -- not to mention having a guest that wore you out, too. Things will perk up; I'm sure of it.

Posted by: Norma on 06.01.2005 AT 11:34 PM

Weird about the flower......

The spring out of sorts thing. Do you think it is because a) you have just had a guest that took up alot of time and energy and b)it is the first year that you don't have to do Derek stuff at the end of the year? So part of it could be that you are missing most of that social crowd and the energy that the end of the Derek school year brought. Plus it is a break from senior stuff. I remember feeling the same way after Gillian went off. I get to have it all back next year, and then miss out on the fun of Meg's stuff after that. It is all sort of weird and unsettling, but hard to put your finger on. OR-the lack of sunshine and warm weather this late in the season may have something to do with it. I know it is having and effect on me.

I love those mittens!!!! I like the colors of the fairisle bag....what a cute pattern. I can relate about those chips. For me it is bagels. I love them and could have one for every meal. Of course it needs to be slathered in butter and cream chesse. I have been bagel free for three weeks now.

I looked at the bag and thought "Those colors are perfectly Sandy". I think it's great. Happy flowers popping up in your yard agree!

Posted by: Johanna on 06.01.2005 AT 09:29 PM

Glad to hear someone else is feeling the same way. I'm just low energy, uninspiring, and going thru the motions. A good night's sleep might indeed help.

Posted by: Laurie on 06.01.2005 AT 09:17 PM

Salsa is good for you! The chips, perhaps not as much, but really, what can you do. Good luck with battling the portion control. :)

When I first saw the colors, I thought... hmmm, Christmasy.

It means you are a star! We knew it all along.
How about trying my favorite. Take Cream cheese softened in the bottom of a shallow baking dish, spread prepared chili on it, sprinkle with shredded cheese of your choice (Colby Jack for me), add onions, chilies, peppers, or anything you prefer and bake until the cheese is bubbly. Scoop out with Tostitos (sorry I had to use that name) and enjoy! Oh wait, you didn't want another food to eat up.

I haven't been myself either - it seems to be going around. I hope you feel better soon.

The flowers are a sign that better days are coming!
