06.03.2005 :: What a wonderful world
cocky
Pronunciation: 'kä-kE
Function: adjective
Inflected Form(s): cock·i·er; -est
: boldly or brashly self-confident
Cocky. As in "I don't need no stinking pattern. I've got the pattern up here!"
touching knitting needle to head for empahsis.
See towards the bottom of this Retro rib sock? All of a sudden the 4 stitch pattern takes on a new look. Let's just call that "A Sandy original" shall we? Because it is not being ripped out.
Mood Swings
The great thing about hitting rock bottom in the mood department is that there is nowhere to go but up. Let's list the positive, shall we?
The Official List
It's Friday
The sun IS shining
It is not freezing outside
There are flowers growing in my yard
Yes, some of them are weeds, but I shall now refer to them as WILDFLOWERS
The Tostitos and Salsa are gone. No more siren call for me
It is Friday. Worth mentioning again. Just to make sure you were paying attention
The song, What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. Makes me happy thinking about it
Yarn (obvious, wasn't it?)
Beet greens in my local market
For that matter, fresh beets
(see? We don't need salsa and chips to be happy!?!)
Snail Trails
Oh, all right! Snails do not technically make me happy. Especially on my house. But they DO leave cool trails. I would trade all the snails in my yard for some yarn though, make me an offer.
And you.
Of course.

some of the most beautiful flowers in the world are technically weeds.
i like your bag that you made mentioned in the previous blog entry, not christmassy at all. if you like it keep it. if not change it!

I LOVE the color of your house!
(and the fact that YOU live in it and blog from there....)
One of these days I'm just gonna show up and HUG you. Just cuz.

Me? Me? Oh, I'm so honored. What a wonderful world indeed! Hey, you've inspired me to post a favorite Norma original beets recipe. Go see in a little while. Then stop distracting me, will ya? I gotta get to work! Work = $$ = yarn. That's the only thing that can get me through it these days.

Sandy, I've got to get Cate dressed for school, but wanted to tell you about a great beet recipe.
Shred two beets in food processor, heat up a small skillet, throw in a tablespoon of butter. Mix beets, 1 t salt, 1 t crushed rosemary and 1/4 cup flour in a small bowl. Pour beet concoction into skillet, pack down in a circle like a big pancake and cook for about 7 minutes a side. The beets carmelize with the flour and salt, and the rosemary adds a great flavor. My DH who won't eat veggies, and ran when I told him about the beet dish, loves it and asks for it frequently!
(This is from "How To Cook Everything" by Mark Bittman .. Beet Rosetti I think.
Enjoy

Positive things: in checking my bloglines I saw that Sandy had posted and it immediately made me smile (really!) I rushed over here and you didn't let me down. "And I think to myself, what a wonderful world!"

Wonderful World is my all time favourite too! I get all emotional everytime I hear it. As for the Retro Rib, I take it you know exactly what you did so you can do the same with the next one! Question of the day, why can't snails go in a straight line? They're just like me in a yarn shop trying to get to the till.
