06.15.2005 :: Doctor Bombay, Doctor Bombay, Come right away!

Wild broomsticks couldn't keep me away from Salem, Massachusetts today to be present for the unveiling of the Bewitched Statue. Salem is the next town from me so I could not resist taking the day off from work and playing some hooky.

The man standing with the white coat? Dr. Bombay, himself!

Louise Tate waving. And between the two? Tabitha herself, all grown up!

The statue unveiled with Elizabeth Montgomery's real life husband, William Asher, also producer of the show (sitting in chair) Tabitha, waving on left side. I'm sure she's waving at me.
Every good celebration always has it's protesters:

The protesters thought I was supporting them by taking their pictures. Little did they know I wanted to tell them to get a life. I didn't.
Every good Salem celebration also has witches:

and doggie witches:

I was such a fan of the show when I was a girl, that I wrote words to the theme music. Yes, that's right. You did not know I was so talented, eh? Do you remember the music? Go here if you need to remind yourself the tune. (scroll down to "hear the streaming audio syndicated version from the dick york black and white years") And then I'll teach you the words. Sandy style.
Okay, here goes. Remember, I was under 10 years old.
ahem~
Bewitched, Bewitched, Bewitch is a witch.
Bewitched, Bewitched, Bewitch is a witch.
Be-witch is a witch, aaaaaaaaaaaaa witch
Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewitched!
See? I had talent from way back.

I leave you with the image you may see tonight on your local news. I probably will anyway!

They protested a small statue, but I bet most of them have been to Disney World. Silly mortals.

I LOVE Bewitched. I remember feeling confused and slightly betrayed when they got a new Darren (Darin?). Nevertheless, I tried desperately to wiggle my nose like Samantha. Sigh. She was soooo pretty. And had the best clothes... double sigh...

I'm just excited about Salem...I love that town! And Bewitched was my favorite TV show, too. I wanted, SO wanted to wiggle my nose and get rid of a sibling or two.

I liked Minnie's phrase for those people who need to get a LIFE. Unmitigated Dorkage. Must remember that one. Jeez, if they used their spare time to donate bed screens to malaria-ridden countries, just THINK what could be done...

you're so cute :)

Without a word of a lie, I wrote almost those exact same lyrics. Exactly.
I feel so close to you right now.

The lyrics - amazing! Such talent! It's hard to laugh (in the office) w/o making a sound. My tummy hurts now.

Doctor Bombay---that's cracking me up. What fun!! Thanks for the photos - it looks like a great time!

Have a great Thursday! xxooo

Thanks for taking such great pictures! I loved the citizen coverage. I find it interesting that a powerful woman could be portrayed in that era only because she was a witch.

um that was a wiggling nose, not a ponytail, lol. i loved that show as a kid (used to watch syndication in the afternoon). as for the protestors, what unmitigated dorkage (yes, i made that up). samatha stephens is a pop icon, and if andy worhol can put up a painting of campbell soup cans and call it art, then she is too. so there :P (not you, the dorkage assembly)

That's so funny that you were there! I saw that on the news tonight, all the way in Houston.

Oh, Sandy I never knew you had SUCH TALENT! Good for you for "supporting" the protesters! Sounds like a very worthwhile reason to play hooky, too. Yes....

Oh my gosh - we went to Salem last Feb and had the BEST time. We did the witch museum and Hawthorne's house - it was all so much fun.

If you're in the town next to Salem - do you know Land & Sea in Peabody? My husband had us drive there for the roast beef and fried clams. He used to spend summers in Peabody. Don't ask. ;-)

So, I'm guessing that the dog wags his tail to cast a spell instead of a ponytail!

I wonder what kinds of spells he would cast? Hmmm. "Let's transform this bowl of kibble into a steak!" wiggle~wiggle.

:)
