06.30.2005 :: It was a dark and stormy afternoon,

I meant to start the flower basket shawl. I don't know what came over me.

as always, please excuse the dark picture. If Mother Nature does not cooperate, you will either get a picture that is too exposed, or too dark.

You do what you gotta do. And that's what appeared on the needles. Works for me.

Hi Sandy!
Just wanted to let you know that you can order a ball winder from JoAnn.com (use this code: JULE540 for 40% off) this is how i got mine and it was ~20-25 bucks. Not too shabby. I also got an inexpensive swift at an LYS...less than 30 bucks. hope this helps.

You're really something, Sandy. You're blaming starting the wrong shawl on sitting in the DARK? Priceless. A craptastic excuse, but priceless.

I love Madli's shawl. I've been working on that a bit myself though I need to post an update. That will have to wait until after I get through all these vacation picture. ;) I made the FBS as well though I changed the pattern and used a single strand of fingering rather than doubled laceweight. I was wearing it out on vacation and got stopped by local west coast knitters for compliments :)

Oh, so pretty. That Nancy Bush, she really does the nicest things! I'm still waiting for the *Reef*. Maybe I will start a FBS, or a Web, or.......

Hmmm, so what does Madli's shawl look like, then? (For those of us who don't have the mags, ya know.)

I have had this shawl in the back of my mind since last summer. It is so beautiful. I loves seeing you use the paper towel holder to wrap yarn. I have been using a toilet paper roll. I just found a ball winder at the local thrift shop for $5.00. You should have seen me jumping up and done, Have a great Fourth of July.
