07.18.2005 :: Movie night!

Last night Andy and I headed down to the park for movie night here in town. Lynch Park is a beautiful place to be on a summer evening with the ocean breeze to enjoy.
Casablanca was the movie to be shown, or so I thought. I was really looking forward to seeing this movie for the first time. Yup. I have never seen Casablanca. It was time I did something about this.
Popcorn popped, drinks in a cooler, chairs in tow, we made our way to the perfect spot. Andy remarked at how many kids were there for such a movie. I thought that parents must be desperate to see a movie and get out of the house for a bit. Been there. Done that.
We settled in. What a gorgeous night. The moon was shining.

The movie started:

Huh? Where's Humphrey Bogart? Ingrid Bergman? Who is that fish on the screen? Is there a fish in Casablanca? There was to be no "Here's looking at you, Kid?" No "Play it again, Sam".
Nope, Finding Nemo.

And I learned an important lesson last night. If you can't see Casablanca, you may as well watch Finding Nemo.
~for full blog disclosure, the pictures are out of order a bit as you can tell by the degrees of darkness. Whatever.
Knitting came along for the movie but never made it out of it's bag.
Speaking of knitting.
~insert big dramatic sigh here.
Creatures of the reef made some progress. And then not so much. It was a case of 2 rows forward 2 rows backward. It's all knitting. Unknitting lace teaches a great lesson. One that I hope I am done learning but a lesson nonetheless.

Let's all be happy and thankful to be in the company of our family today. That seems extra important right now.

Oh, I LOVE Finding Nemo! What a cool place to watch a movie--any movie! Joey and I rented Dodgeball this weekend. Talk about NOT Casablanca! HA!

Love you, sweetie----hug that Andy tight, and give Bethany a smooch for me. xxooxxoo

Nemo's a classic, too! Sounds like a perfect summer evening.

Both movies are fun... and what a neat way to see a movie. Sounds great.

And... you can go back next week to see Casablanca!

Well I suppose Finding Nemo was topical with Creatures of the Reef anyway. Humphrey would have made a wonderful Gill (the angel fish) Of all the tanks in all the world you had to pop up in mine.....

Isn't finding Nemo worth it just to see Dory again?

(Weren't all the little kids a tip off?)

That's the spirit! If you can't be with the one you love....love the one you're with....or something. ;-)
