07.25.2005 :: Summer vacation: or dust in the wind!

Vacation: Day 1
This being the first official day of vacation, I started it off right. I slept in. Until 8 am. That's right. I'm a lazy bones. Sleeping the day away. Isn't it amazing how the phrase "sleeping in" changes as one gets older?
Now I'm goofing off. The rest of the day will be devoted to getting the house in order. Dusting and cleaning, washing and scrubbing, cooking and eating.
Last night, Andy and I headed to the Lynch Park movie night. Again. We were wondering if we would be able to see Casablanca this time. (Last week, you may remember that we saw Finding Nemo).
First we took a walk on the beach.

It was the perfect evening. A light cool breeze that refreshed. The wonderful salty smell of the sea in the air. And to think that I almost stayed home! It's easy to be a party pooper when settling in to the evening comfiness of home. You know?

Here's looking at you, kid!

Believe it or not, this was the first time Andy and I had seen Casablanca. I loved it. There is something wonderfully comforting about watching a corny black and white movie!
I'm sure that Andy did not like it much. He is too polite to say, but he had that look. I guess that is what I love about him the most. He will do something willingly and happily even though he'd rather be washing the kitchen floor. Or something.
Mouse update!
I just do not know what is up with this mouse! It did not work yesterday for beans. I fiddled and fiddled with the settings and had resigned myself to having to buy another. I guess it heard me plotting it's demise because it got scared straight. It is working fine. For now. If I were smart, I'd go buy another and have it waiting.
Ha!
Any wagers on that happening?

Twin wheels. I have more pictures of actual people, but some of them are not flattering. You know the poses. And I would not appreciate someone posting a mid word picture of me, so I'll refrain. I may keep them on hand for some kind of future bribery. I'm just not sure yet.
Never know if I get desperate for some yarn....

Hi there! I noticed via Bloglines that you have been subscribed to our blog (World Wide Wood) since July 9. Just thought I'd stop by and check out yours. I had to do a bit of sleuthing to figure out where it was, since the only thing I had to go on was your Bloglines blogroll.

We also go to the Lynch Park movie nights, which you might know if you've been reading our blog for long enough. We didn't go to see Casablanca, but we have been to see other movies this season... Singin' In The Rain, Ferris Bueller, and Finding Nemo. We probably won't go to Sixth Sense, but we will almost certainly go to see Star Wars on August 14. It really is a great way to spend Sunday evening... we're big fans of Lynch Park.

My wife is also into knitting... she hasn't posted about any knitting projects this month, but she did post about a quilting project...

Anyway, glad to know you're reading our blog, and hoping you'll drop by with a comment. Perhaps we'll even run into you at Lynch Park movie night!

I saw Casablanca for the first time when I was 4. My nana told me "that's what men are supposed to be like"...and since then, I was on the prowl for my own "bogie"...found him! I love watching the old b-and-w movies... we see them at Spot Pond in Stoneham! :) Where are they near you?

I didn't see Casablanca until a few years ago. Loved it. Perfect way to start a week of relaxation.

Happy Vacation! It sounds like it is off to a romantic start with a walk on the beach, Casablanca in the park, and a date who is too polite to say... all you need now is breakfast in bed!

I hope you get a lot of nothing done, the housework can wait ;D

Well you started your vacation much better than I did. I am at work. Yuck. Anywho - glad you saw Casablanca because it is one of the best movies of all time (I am an old movie freak) and I will admit I didn't see it myself until about six months ago :o) Enjoy your vacation! Try to sleep until 8:30 tomorrow - live it up! ;o)

Oh, you make me laugh. I'm glad I'm not going to be on the end of those blackmail pictures...THIS time! Glad you liked Casablanca and you got to "sleep in." Sounds like your vacation is off to a great start!
