07.31.2005 :: I fear I have pulled my yard sale muscle!

It's true. And if you are wondering exactly WHERE a yard sale muscle is, on me it's the leg. Specifically the right quad muscle. One would think that being such a big muscle, that the moment of injury would be obvious. One would be wrong. I have no idea what I did to it, I just know it is killing me. It is making me walk like an old memere! (grandmother in french, for all you non frenchers!). You should see me going up and down the stairs! THAT would give you a chuckle~
Our yard sale went well, by the way. We made a whopping $256 dollars, which will help the broke teens of this house immensely. And by default helps the supporting parents!
You yard salers amaze me! I tip my hat to the energy, the tenaciousness, the audacity, the bargain seeking of the lot!
Lisa even came! Hey, Lisa, you almost blew my blog secret. I know. It's ridiculous. I was sitting there with my best friend in the world, who does not have an inkling of my secret blog life. Crazy. But how do you mention it to people? "Oh, yeah, I have this blog that I've been keeping for over 2 years and I've just decided to tell you now, since you are such a GOOD friend and all!"
It is a weird corner I have backed myself into, is it not?
By 1:00 (yard sale was advertised until 2pm) not a soul was around. Most of the yard sale crawlers had gone home with their goodies, I got out the kerstin wheel and spun a bit in the wonderful air!

Later in the afternoon, we packed up all that was left (2 whole carloads) and brought it to the nearest Salvation Army donation site Not one thing was coming back into this house.
Now?
Ahhhhhhh! Sweet freedom! No more piles in the home. And oddly enough, Fig seems to be the happiest about this. He hates messes.
Perhaps he's picked the wrong house to live!

Last year I had a girls weekend at the cottage with my two best friends. I had big plans to out myself during this little gf adventure, but was trying to find the right time. After a few, well, cocktails, I finally got up the nerve to tell them about my blog. They were like, What? What's a blog?

And then I showed them, and one friend said sarcastically..."wow. Is that a picture of a bag of yarn on your living room floor? Fun."

Now my family finding out...eww. That's a different matter.

Actually, having someone out you like that makes it easier - "Oh yeah, I've got a blog. I didn't think you'd be interested, so I never mentioned it. I'm sorry.", and you're good to go.

Yeah, the kerstin wheel is getting good use! Keep it for as long as you wish, San, I can only spin on one at a time and I haven't had time to spend with the robin wheel as it is. Good going on the sale ... were you tempted to tag the kids? ;)

See? Now, I have TWO blogs. One is g-rated and my family and inlaws all have the link. The other, is all locked away so only certain people cna it and protected and is a much more, um.. spontaneous ;)

Anyway... Someone (in another country) was asking me how to purl, and so I was searching for videos online to send her and I found this and thought of you... A woman uses her electric mixer to wind centre-pull balls of yarn. HA! Very clever.
So here you go and may your days of hand-winding be over :)

You are sunk. You pull out the wheel when the yard sale gets quiet? That sounds like spinning chops to me.

You got good advice in other comments about how to handle the quadriceps.

So.....tell me. Will you practice physical therapy on yourself? You did the SMART thing.....got rid of the rest of the sh-- stuff immediately. We always cart the crap back inside the house thinking we'll sell it the next time. And did I mention how much I HATE yard sales????

I tell friends about my blog all the time and they never even ask to see it or ask what it is. It's ok with me.
Stretch your muscle out a little each day. Stretching helps so many of our ills. Maybe a little heat, too.
Hope it heals quickly!

Oh my goodness, hope your leg heals quickly. It took me awhile to tell everyone about my blog too though I was quite surprised at who found me on their own. There was even the wife of a guy I used to work with back in Louisiana who surfed in and sent me an e-mail saying, "Do I know you?" *lol* Ah well, I think just about everyone finally knows. I did find someone in my knitting group has a secret blog but she put links to mine on hers so I discovered it by just looking to see who's coming in from where. I won't say anything to her though, I'll wait for her to tell us when she's ready. She's a busy mom and doesn't post very often so I'm sure she doesn't want pressure for updates.
