08.31.2005 :: Poor Fig!

DSC05154.JPG
Poor, hungry kitty!
Today is cat dental day. And Fig is not happy. He has been on a forced starvation diet since midnight last night. He is not shy about letting me know that he is not a happy cat. He has tried the yelling meow. The leading me to the kitchen technique, the persistance and now is onto the pathetic kitty routine.
Once upon a time, I did not even want a cat. I just did not yet know that I was a cat person. He doesn't hold that against me. One day our neighbors knocked on the door carrying a food dish and a bag of food. She asked if we could feed their cat, Figaro, on our porch for just a couple of weeks because they had to move temporarily out of their apartment while it was being deleaded. 2 weeks, 3 tops!
Um. Okay.
We fed him on the porch. He was basically an outdoor cat. A real neighbor hood bully.
3 weeks passed. Soon that June turned into September, and October. But I knew that it was getting cold outside with more to come, so we had to make a decision to give this cat a home or find him one.
You know, he IS kind of cute we found ourselves saying. Okay, he can sleep in the basement.
And he did. Then the decision to get him neutered came along. When he came home from the vets that day, I could not make him go to the basement to sleep. He slept on the couch that night and it was not long before he was sleeping in our beds.
Funny how that happens.
His origins were even sketchier than that. He was a dumpster kitty, rescued by the neighbors who would eventually abandon him. It is in this part of his history that his extreme food need comes from. If he can see the bottom of his bowl, if we DARE to let it get somewhat empty, he has a bit of an anxiety attack, with dramatic sitting at the bowl for hours on end and meowing like he is actually starving to death.
Imagine, today he has no food. At all.
It's getting ugly, people!
And speaking of ugly
The nit wit is still at it, I am trying to be patient, explaining to her/him ( I think it's a her by the little cutesy icons she has on the forum:gag)
Being the bigger person sucks sometimes, you know?
Thank you for your support. It means a lot to me.
Now, Fig is appealing to you to please, please, send him a morsel or two?
Please?

Maybe s/he's one of those "Christians" who only act meek and humble on Sundays.
And yes, it really stinks to be "the bigger person" in the conversation. Although I only know this secondhand, as I've never actually tried it myself.

quit trying...sounds like in this being's case, stooopidity is terminal...just wait til he/she starts up a site...want to bet the howling about theft will be heard in all corners of the galaxy? and since reasoning hasn't worked, shock might...hoping you've gotten mary in on the act and have luurrrrrrrrvely images to show up when 'the meek one' (wanna bet he/she thinks that he/she is the ONLY recipient intended to inherit the earth?) pulls her nasty stunt again.

hope you gave fig something especially scrummy for dinner...and that the dentistry went well...*sigh* i miss having cats yowling for food...

Hang in there, Fig! I'm sure there will be a feast awaiting your return home :)

oh growly fig, and he doesn't even know how bad it's going to get yet, poor thing!

My Gabby came from a dumpster and Winnie was feral til she was four months old. Now Gwen, she was just rescued from the chickens at my sister's house ;) Poor poor Fig, sorry matey, no sympathy here. I know you'll be safer with an emtpy tummy but I'm sure you'll get *plenty* of food after :) All my girls tend to overeat having been strays when they were little (even Gwen though she wasn't really a stray) so they've got to eat diet food and they only get fed once a bed time. You should see them about an hour before dinner time- whew, lookout!

But think of all those lovely crunchy biscuits just waiting to be chewed by those little white toofypegs! It'll all be worth it Fig...

I don't know if anyone said this but with this person, I think her head is probably getting harder the more you try to talk to her about it. I'm a stubborn person, so I know how it is. I bet in a month she will finally get it and start telling everyone about stealing bandwidth. You won't know about it, of course, unless she decides to apologize for being bull-headed.

Did I just call that twit a "knitwit"? I did. I've been reading blogs entirely too much.

Posted by: Marie on 08.31.2005 AT 01:15 PM

Fig is pretty cute. Bet those neighbours knew he'd be fine with you. Didn't you adopt another stray last year just because he looked pitiful?

Yah know, if knitwit isn't getting it yet, she's not likely to. I'd be happy to help you deal with her, even if Christian forums aren't exactly my thing.

have you seen this? http://www.knitblog.com/bandwidth-thief.htm

I got the link from wendyknits.net, last summer in July 26-27. I think she renamed the buttons in question so the links showed broken on the thieves site.

LOL, hang on, Fig. Soon all will be well. The drugs they give you in "the joint" will be all worth it. I promise. And when you "get out," you can yowl and scream and let Sandy know how PISSED you are at her for leaving you there, and tell her how HORRIBLE the whole experience was. And then you can be loved and coddled for HOURS. Then tomorrow you can give Sandy the cold shoulder for the WHOLE DAY. After that, you can be all lovey-dovey and cutesy-wootsy. Vincent can tell you all about how to do it, in case you don't figure it out for yourself. But I bet you will figure it out just fine for yourself.

Just head over to Stitchy McYarnpants and threaten Fig with the last photo. That should do it.

BTW-I think it is time for us all to join that forum. Put the pressure on. Just let us know.

Poor kitty, can't he have just one little morsel. Hopefully it will be over with soon and he can gorge himself.

As soon as I can get the human's credit card away from her, I'm fed-exing you some food. Stupid humans!

Posted by: Lucy on 08.31.2005 AT 10:22 AM

Is some catnip allowed? I feel so sorry for you both. How about you crush some up into powder and sprinkle it around. It helps my cats when I cannot feed them. Buzzes them up and then they sleep awhile.....

Hold on, Fig. Help is on the way!

meow

Posted by: igor on 08.31.2005 AT 10:20 AM

Ooooh, poor Fig! He looks so mad . . . and I know all about that "yelling meow" . . . Abby sits at the foot of the stairs and yells at us for about half an hour after we go to bed at night.

You know, you could change the image she's hotlinking to on your server. To something, well... like this:

How rude you want to get is up to you - I've seen some really nasty ones.

I feel your pain...every morning and every night. We too have a kitty who thinks there should be food available at all times. Unfortunately, he has diabetes and can only be fed a very small amount every 12 hours. You can imagine how fun he can be. And yet we still love him and find him quite entertaining in those few hours between meals where he forgets that he wants food. I hope that the dental cleaning goes smoothly.

Are you serious? S/he is still not letting this go?? Holy Crap somebody hit her "off" button!!!
Put a "What the Hell's a Hot Link" button up on your site and see if she takes that!
btw, poor Fig...I have food, tell her to stop by AFTER her op...
