09.19.2005 :: Cat's got my tongue?
Cat's got my tongue lately. I have been noticing that when something worldwide happens that is catastrophic, I have a bit of trouble finding my voice after. I can't explain it. I don't understand it. It just is. I'm hoping you are still stopping by to read this.
~~~
It seems that somedays are a mail delight. And most others are a mail bore. Saturday was a delight.
June's super dooper wonderful handspun yarn. Do you read June's blog? You should. She's nice people! She's also selling more of her handspun. All proceeds will be donated to the Mercy Corps, to help Katrina victims.
I need to come up with a wonderful pattern for such wonderful yarn. I'm hoping there is enough for a pair of socks.
And.
Trekking XXl yarn. Colorway number 108, muted rainbow. What wonderful colors! I can't wait to start a pair of socks with this yarn.
One more thing was in the mail.
Trekking XXL, colorway 105, autumn. Just what the doctor ordered. (Or is that "the Doktorfisch?") I started knitting right away, I could not resist. The shading is so subtle that you do not see it until it is knit up. Very interesting yarn to look at. A joy to fondle. Oh, did I say that out loud?
:)
This color really DOES look like autumn. In fact, I found the fall plant in my yard blooming and I wonder, are these twins separated at birth? You decide..
Sedum and Autumn trekking side by side. Can YOU tell the difference?
I, by the way, have never met a sedum that I did not like. I feel the same about hosta.
Remember Brody? (Scroll down to August 20) Team Brody raised $42,688 for the Leukemia Society. Way to Go! I would like to publicly thank Nanette who not only talked the talk, she also walked the walk. She volunteered to be part of Team Brody and participated in the Light the Night Walk. Thank you Nanette. Now, everyone go read her blog. :)
If you are interested, the local (Seattle, Washington) TV station interviewed Dipti, Eric and Brody and have a link on their page. It is entitled Mother and Child Both Battle Cancer under video on demand. You do have to sign up for the page, but it's free and a short form. It's a great interview. I'm not sure how long they will have it on their page but for today it's there.
Monday. It's almost done. Hope yours was great.
I have yet to knit with Trekking XXL (yarn diet), and those colors are tempting me to go out and buy some! So pretty!
Hey, I knit up a pair of Trekking 108! Love 'em. One of these days I'll have to show them. The sedum colorway is gorgeous. I'll have to make note of the number. Happy Trekkin'!
I bought the same Trekking at our non-wool festival. Everyone wanted it but I got it;-)
I was going to say that thing that Laurie said about the sedum changing colour: that russet it strikes when the snow falls? That's my colour. Trekking is da bomb.
I recently finished a pair of Trekking #108 socks, and the colors are gorgeous. Now that I've seen the 106, I'm going to have to get some of that, too! Can't wait to see what you do with June's yarn, I imagine it's fabulous stuff.
Now I have to have that colour Trekking, it's gorgeous!
That trekking is such great stuff. I have yet to knit with it, but it always looks so beautiful.
What an amazing sedum match! Now, does the sock change color as the sedum does over the fall?
For a minute you scared me; I thought something else had happened! (Well, the Florida Keys are in for a rough night, but it hasn't happened YET.) I had made a donation to the Brody fund, by the way, because of your post--only a few dollars, but they've obviously added up!
Ohhhh, Sedum Lovers R Us! Yes. If I'd known it was Sedum holiday week, I would have got pics of some of mine. They're all kind of boring right now. I don't have any of that niee autumn sedum. I should go steal some of my neighbor's in the dark of night. Well, perhaps not.
LOVE your sock yarns. And yes, June's yarn is awesome, isn't it?
I've ordered some trekking in the 105 pastels - I love the way the colours graduate! But now I've seen your 106 & 108, I want those too!! :)
Lovely yarn and lovely plants! I've got a bit of that very same pinky sedum rooting in my kitchen. I hope I can plant him outside in a week or two because otherwise his chances of overwintering are slim to none, I'm not particularly good with indoor plants.
Such beautiful yarn on a beautiful day! This day was a wonderful Monday in the mountains too!
The yarn is all beautiful. It matches the sky in the post below too!
Glad so much money was raised for the family - that helps lighten things despite all the tragedy around us.
Have a great Tuesday!
