09.20.2005 :: No pussyfooting around, there is good news and bad. Always with the bad following

Good news:
Oh, wait. There WILL be pussyfooting around. Pink Pussytoes, to be exact. In my garden. "Garden" being a generous term for the overgrown patch of weeds in a planned area. A package from Norma awaited my arrival home today. She boxed up her roots and shared the wealth. I wish she would have mailed herself to me, I could use a little help with the weed control. Digging a hole to plant a new plant should be an easy thing, but there is a lot of work to be done before a simple hole is accomplished. And today is rainy. My plan is to sprinkle the little darlings with a drink of water and put them in tomorrow. It's only a day away.
Thank you, Miss Norma. My future garden thanks you too.
And now the bad.
As an adult some decisions have to be made. Some of those decisions are good. Some are bad. I have had to make a bad one. But for good reasons. I will not be able to attend Rhinebeck this year. I want to. I planned to. I had all kinds of plans with all kinds of good people. But those plans have to go unfullfilled. Family finances have taken a hit lately and the Rhinebeck frivolity didn't fit in.
boo hoo. I know. But I already have plans to mail a certain someone some money so I can at least have the booby prize. A skein of Brooks Farm yarn. Granted, not as fun as spending a couple of evenings knitting, laughing and sharing my inner soul with like minded people, but I will do my best and wrap the brooks farm yarn around my neck and snuggle with it while I pay my bills.
Not the same, I know, but it beats NOT having BFY around your neck while writing checks.
My random thoughts for the day:
~Why won't my printer take only one page at a time to print?
~Hi, my name is Sandy and I'm a benadryl addict: Still taking it at night. Bug bite foot still swelling. This can't be good. I DO, however, sleep like a baby
~Is there any better dinner than chicken stir fry? Hmm?
~I'm craving apples
~I wish the whistling bird next door would get a touch of laryngitis. Just for an afternoon. Not permanently. Just an hour!
~Are you still reading this? Good, because there will be a contest. Sneaky, huh? Because I am a weather freak, take a picture of your sky to share with me, post it on your blog, leave me a comment to let me know where to visit your weather and I'll pick a winner, randomly out of the participants.
I will show you tomorrow what the prize is. And when the deadline is.
The SKY is the limit!
:)

Cool idea Sandy. I absolutely love the Gold Hill LL. Yes, I know Norma wants it. I'm just sayin'. Gotta go check the weather channel. You can see my sky here:

My sky is a golden sunset from the Golden State. Taken on the last evening of my pal's visit. Too bad about Rheinbeck - if it's any consolation, I'm not going either.

Coming out of lurkdom to say that I've posted a 'sky' picture as well.

Great idea. I certainly am enjoying seeing everyone's photos.

Great idea!

Ohhh...sorry to hear about missing Rhinebeck. What about the Vermont Sheep & Wool fest? Would that be a possible day trip for you? Plus you could probably meet up with Norma. I know that Brooks Farm will be a vendor there.

I just wish I lived closer to your area so I could attend some of the wonderful wool festivals in the NE.

Hi Sandy! I hope your foot gets better soon... I posted a sky pic for you :)

Posted by: Hilary on 09.21.2005 AT 02:14 PM

I've enjoyed reading your blog, and have never commented until I saw your weather contest! I don't really have a blog per se, but I do have a blog thread on the website listed above. I posted a pic of our sky last week that I just love! Scroll to the bottom and you'll see it. Sorry the pic is dark, but it was just dusk.

I'm sorry to hear you can't go to Rhinebeck, Sandy :( But you enjoy yourself in that Brooks Farm Yarn. Looks like they have some absolutely beautiful products.

I posted both a picture of my sky in my hometown and a picture of my sky while I was on vacation...I take a lot of sky pictures for some reason. Hmm.

Anyway, I hope you are doing well! I've been lurking for a bit, and will be heading back into your archives to read some more soon :)

It just so happens I was sharing the scenery on Thursday Sept 15, the picture was taken about 8:30am. Go check it out. We often get the red sky like the one in your picture, in the evening, where I am from. Looking forward to seeing more of your mitts.

It is yukky and rainy today. The sky would be, well, it wouldn't be there...rats! We've been without power for over 12 hours and just got back up. It's a long story. Missing Rhinebeck sucks big time but at least you'll get a booby prize. Looking forward to more sky and weather reporting, too;-)

Posted by: margene on 09.21.2005 AT 09:35 AM

Ow. Rhinebeck and swelling foot. Get thee to an MD. Rule out infection happening. We all are a testament to the fact you can miss a festival (i.e. MDS&W) and live to tell about it.

Posted by: Laurie on 09.21.2005 AT 08:25 AM

:( Sorry you won't be able to go on your trip!!

BUT I posted my sky in my blog. :)
Enjoy!

I can totally understand about Rhinebeck... I cancelled my trip to MDS&W for similar reasons... there's always next year. And for something a little closer to home: there is a "sheep and wool tour" of open farms and spinners in NH (near Sunapee--- a short 2 hour drive) in early october. Lots of knitterly things... I wanna go, but i'll be in Southern France... I wonder if they have sheep...

Oh, My "sky" photos are on my blog! date: 9/21/05 title "this one's for Sandy"... i hope I win!
:) Kate

It's hard to be the adult sometimes isn't it :(((. I will miss meeting you in Rhinebeck!

Posted by: Kim on 09.21.2005 AT 07:33 AM

I agree with Chris, I think it's time to see the doctor again about your foot. I hope it gets better soon. It's too bad you're going to miss Rhinebeck this year. I've never been, and would love to go, but don't see it happening anytime in the near future. Hopefully next year you'll be able to attend!
Also, I posted my sky picture for you. Clear blue skies and cool weather here in Germany!

Posted by: Rachel on 09.21.2005 AT 05:43 AM

i will post a photo of the sky on my blog by wednesday night!

One more comment: Me, too, does my sky count from the other day?

Posted by: Li_B on 09.21.2005 AT 12:10 AM

Uh-oh. I craved apples when I was pregnant.

Adulthood sucks huge rock-like eggs.

Posted by: claudia on 09.20.2005 AT 11:04 PM

I posted a picture of the sky where I live last night. Does that still count??

Posted by: Luvtocraft on 09.20.2005 AT 10:21 PM

You better get to a Dr and find out what's up, er, down, with that foot! Right now, or at least as early in the AM as you can.

Posted by: Chris on 09.20.2005 AT 10:15 PM

I'll post a sky picture tonight. Just not my sky-instead a Montana sunrise from two weeks ago today.

I'm not going to make it to Rhinebeck either. I think we need to have a Friday night no Rhinebeck pity party. Everyone can bring food and stash to swap. No funds expended, but still some new stuff to play with. What do you think?

Posted by: Rosemary on 09.20.2005 AT 09:20 PM

Oh, I can understand the Rhinebeck thing. I keep talking it over with my husband and he says "go, go" and I keep looking at the travelling we have to do for Meg's auditions and the app fees, the audition fees, the new oboe we just bought, the *^%**&ing senior picture package, the senior fee, and Gillian wants us to come visit her for a night or so.......... It really looks as if Rhinebeck should not be on the docket for now. Still time to win the lottery.....

Posted by: Teresa C on 09.20.2005 AT 08:44 PM

I'll sympathise with you over missing Rhinebeck!
I'll get a sky shot up today, too :)

Posted by: Donna on 09.20.2005 AT 08:14 PM

Oh, FRACK, I'm going to miss you, Babe. I'll reserve a spot in case you change your mind again at the last minute!

My stormy sun-setting sky will be posted on my blog http://nownormaknits2.typepad.com commencing at 12:11 a.m. Eastern Time. (I forget, are we on standard or daylight savings at the moment?)

;-)

I just love the weather right now. Autumn - and all its colors - is the BEST.

Posted by: Norma on 09.20.2005 AT 07:57 PM

Oh, I will miss you at Rhinebeck, Sandy san....
