09.30.2005 :: It's Friday, can I have a WOOT!
One mitten done. This is Liidia's glove from Folk Knitting in Estonia made into mittens, thumb side showing. So, I guess technically they are Liidia's mittens. The yarn? Knitpicks Andean Treasure You can't really see the cuff because of the rolling. Too bad too because that is my favorite part. I would say some blocking is in order. I'll show it again when there is a pair.
So, I guess there hasn't been exactly nothing around here all the time. Just some of the time. Mainly when I sat down at the computer the other day!
More?
Yes, there's more.
Wonderful handdyed, handspun yarn from Karen being made into thrummed mittens. Please join me in a hearty Mmmmmmm. Thrums. Can there be any better warm device for those afflicted with extreme cold hands? No, there can not. I could use them right now in fact. It is a wonderfully refreshing 56 degrees F. (13 C to the rest of the world) which means, because we are too frugal to turn the heat on this early, that the inside of the house is a bit nippy. What I wouldn't do for a fireplace right now. Why didn't we buy a house with a fireplace?
The rest of the goat of the goat feet:
You can see that he did not have any interest in me because I was not holding goat food. Beast.
:)
Up!
It's a nice day here after a beautiful start:
I hope your day is as beautiful, in it's own way.
(anyone else think of that song when they read that line?)
~~~~~~
Please visit Snooze and consider buying some of the wonderful yarn she is selling.
Always love to see a mitten on your blog. Can't wait to see them finished. Love the thrummed mittens too. I was just thinking of making the ones in Folk Mittens. I think they are called "Fauna". Have a great weekend.
What delicious knitting is going on with your needles. And just in time because it that sky is cracklin' blue, but chilly too.
Wow, that mitten is gorgeous! Don't wear mittens much around here. We just had a cold front come through and now the temp. is a "cool" 88 degrees.
You'll have the second one done in no time. Tis the time...I wished for mittens yesterday morning! We have a lovely day here, too but we might have the 's' word by Tuesday (mountains only).
Enjoy your weekend;-)
I'll give you a WOOT and a photo of a beautiful BC sunset (it's in my Sept 30 entry). Great idea - I've been looking at everyone's sky photos!
I just finished a pair of mittens last night. Your mitten is much more gorgeous. I won't have a pic of mine up until this weekend. I have to admit though that for some reason, mittens were a pain to knit. It could be because my baby kept pulling out the dpn, or it could be that the yarn kept splitting, either way I have sworn off another pair of mittens for awhile. I will watch you knit yours, though. :)
It is definitely too early to turn the heat on. I thought about it today for about half a second and then said to myself, "self, it isn't even October yet, NO heat for you!" or something to that effect and grabbed another sweater ;o)
Beautiful sky - and beautiful knitting, have a great weekend!
Lovely sky, lovely mittens. I just picked up a book about Fair isle gloves and mittens. Not as pretty as your mittens, but I think you've inspired me to have a go :)
Lovely mitten - can't wait to see a blocked pair. It's a bit nippy here today as well and I for one am THRILLED! No more dewpoint watching for us, huh? YAY!
Love the mittens - I am learning to knit my first sock. Using Lorna's Laces Shepherd Yarn ( your yarn drawing made it look so yummy, I bought some of her yarn because of that - even though I didn't win the drawing - however, I found your great blog that I regularly read now).
A friend of mine and I are doing the same for charity knitters - http://playswithpointything.blogspot.com - but we are fairly new and don't get many people coming our way. We do want to recognize charity knitters in some way, so if you can spread the word!
I think you should have an all call at least quarterly for skies since the sky looks different during the seasons, as does the trees. Maybe you already do something like that, but I haven't been reading your blog for very long.
Well, I have just written my longest comment in the blog world. :)
