10.19.2005 :: Morning already?

I left my house on a Tuesday evening. It's odd , for sure, but it was wonderful. I attended the Knit Lit 3 kickoff reading at Willow Books last night and had an evening filled with fiber and friends. What more could a girl ask. I met so many bloggers that I had previously only knew in words and I came away perfectly high on friendship. I made new friends but kept the old.
As I lay my head on the pillow, pulling the crisp sheets around me, I ruminated on the people and conversations of the evening. I hoped that somehow, Stephanie could find this peace in a hotel room. Home is such a good feeling when the heart is warmed by frienship, is it not? As I closed my eyes, enjoying the exhausted, happy feeling, I then spent ALL night awake. Oh, I dozed, but the mind would not turn off. I thought and rethought of all the evening and frankly, now, I'm ready to sleep. But I cannot.
Fricking caffeine!
I only took one picture of the evening and it was before I got there in the car in traffic. A sky picture. I thought the sky looked so pretty through the trees, but of course the picture did not capture the beauty that my eyes were seeing.

The camera did not come out the whole rest of the night, which is unlike me. However, I do know that 2 group pictures were taken, so if you travel around, you'll see me. In fact, I was called to the carpet for not posting my smiling face on here more. Okay, I'll work on that a bit. Not today though.

Button Call!
One more button from Mary, my computer guru! Thanks Mary!

It was a great deal of fun, and wonderful seeing you again. I like these habits we all are falling into.

I am time-challenged, otherwise I would join the KAL. I will follow the FO's with enthusiasm, however. (I'm still working on a glovelet from last winter.)

I hate those endless loop nights, too.

We really scared the bookstore owner, didn't we? All those *knitters*, talking and filling up his store and *knitting*. I wonder if he's recovered yet ...

I had a blast, at the reading and meeting you and the others. A fun, fun, evening.

I'd be interested in joining the mitten along if it isn't already closed. Please let me know when you can. Thanks! :)

Is there still time to join the mitten-along? I just started my first pair of mittens (fair isle! I am nothing if not deranged) and I think I could use some support. Wonderful idea!

I'd love to join the Warm Hands KAL if it's not too late. Thanks! What a great idea (as I sit here typing with freezing hands).

Had to tell ya something...check out the Dutch Big Brother http://www.talpa.tv/big-brother/live_camera4.html

Wish I spoke the language LOL but they're all knitting when I just tuned in, boys and girls.

Found out about that site coz one of the houseguests gave birth yesterday.

I'd love to join the Warm Hands group - especially since I am supposed to be knitting some thrummed mittens for gifts this year. But I don't have a blog - can I still join? Pretty please...

Sandy, what a pleasure to meet you. I was all warm and fuzzy last night too. What a fab evening.

Geesh was it a knit thing, a woman thing or just something in the ozone? I couldn't sleep last night either and that's unusual lately.

First I couldn't get to sleep it was well past 1:00AM and woke up at 5:30AM. But I'm not tired yet so we'll see how the day goes.

Ah it just hit me MAYBE it's the caffine at the knit together last night. Never bothered me before maybe there's a magical moment it all of a sudden catches up and hits ya.

Posted by: Anne on 10.19.2005 AT 10:46 AM

Me too - I could NOT fall asleep. All that fun!! Love the new mitten button.

Hey Sandy,
It was so great to meet you in person! I felt like we were kindred spirits and I know you know what I mean. I slept last night but dreamt of all you guys!

Posted by: Carole on 10.19.2005 AT 09:26 AM

Nice sky...sorry you didn't sleep. LOVE that button. Glad you had a great time. Over and out.

Posted by: Norma on 10.19.2005 AT 09:26 AM

Hi Sandy!
I was there... 3rd row on the left side of the room (purple shirt), the one knitting on a gray scarf, then not loving the 2x2 rib, then starting a different ball and well, a new stitch. *sigh* no thrums last night as I was a "last minuter" and had NO yarn with me (emergency trip to W&W on lunch break). If these mittens give me more trouble, I might have to drive to Salem, buy you a coffee and BEG for help. :)whaddya think?

Posted by: Kate on 10.19.2005 AT 09:03 AM

Sounds like a fun night out - I bet you'll sleep well tonight! (PS - count me in for some mittens - I thought "now this is the perfect time to make the match for the Malabrigo Mitten I made in March!)

Posted by: Mary Beth on 10.19.2005 AT 08:54 AM

Aw, now I wish I had gone. Glad you had fun, though. Did you see the pictures of our yarn on my blog? Loverly, loverly!!

Posted by: Teresa C on 10.19.2005 AT 08:28 AM

I miss my blogger! So glad you had a good time - although sorry you were up all night. I had trouble falling asleep myself. Too busy thinking about my mittens. ;-)

I was very happy to see you among the acolytes of yarn. We do make a noisy, merry group!
