11.17.2005 :: Mittening
So, mittens. Right?
There is the Hermione mitten that I have going. And I love it! I do! But why all of a sudden did the meandering pattern stop meandering?
I mean, where is the meandering justice?
Follow the zigzaggy line from right to left. All of a sudden it's gone. And THIS is the fixed version. Yeah. It needs to be fixed again, obviously. I hate it when that happens. Me and fixing means mittens sitting on the table for a while. I can't help myself.
I am very excited to tell you that I got my yarn delivery from Knitpicks yesterday and among them was the yarn needed to finish Liidia's mittens. How I love them! Not much done yet, but it felt good to be doing to latvian braids again!
Latvian? Estonian? Why do I keep thinking these words are interchangeable. I'm sure they are not. Especially if you live there. I do not want to be ticking off Estonian/Latvian knitters. Can you imagine? A gang waiting to take me out?
It's sad, really.

I think both of those mittens are great. I can't wait to see the cable one. You know I love a cable mitten. Will you let us know what Knitpick yarn you are using.

I once seriously pissed off a Ukrainian guy by addressing him in Russian. He was one of the movers packing up my now-husband's apartment. Oops. The languages are very similar, but the use of Ukrainian was suppressed pretty viciously by the Soviet government back in the day, so there's a lot of national pride attached to it.
I made lots of minor screw-ups on the Hermione mittens too, but they're easily remedied. How's the thumb looking? Row gauge ok?

Well, I like your Hermione mittens. Sorry you have to fix that but they are still lovely.
I finished my first pair of mittens! Tee hee. I posted a pix on my blog.

Can't wait to see the finished mittens, latvian, estonian or hogwardien, never mind!

"meandering justice" and "take you out?" Oh how I do love reading others poetic musings....(both mittens look great to me, but that's not saying much given my making mittens without a pattern streak..)

You made me laugh out loud with that last bit.
Do you like the Knitpicks yarn? (What kind are you using for the mittens?)

Oh, you always make me laugh.
We are waiting.....to TAKE YOU OUT! That means absolutely nothing to you, but what you said stirred up a hilarious ancient memory for me.
When we were kids, there was a little prissy Montreal boy who came to stay at the camp next to ours. And Montrealers were SOOOOO PRISSY to us Vermont rednecks, ya know? So he got mad at us one time when we were playing, and he told us, in his Frenchie accent: "I have a big brother, and I will send him to.....TAKE YOU OUT!" Ah, yeah. You had to be there.

Keep your head up, it will all turn out in the end. Best wishes to you and your mom and the rest of the family.
