01.13.2006 :: Knitting Red, sort of

DSC05873.JPG
Don't you love a new in town yarn shop? This one is called Yarns in the Farms. Now, for those of you not from around here, if you are refering to Beverly Farms, you must say it like this:
The Fahms
got it?
In fact, yarn would then become Yahn. Yahns in the Fahms. Don't they package their yarn, erm, yahn in a fun way?
Want a closer look?

The yahn on the left is Farmhouse yarns. Yes, Fahmhouse Yahns, to be sure. The wonderful yahn store girl wound my yahn, how lucky am I? The yahn on the right is called ggh soft kid. Love.
The plan? I do have a plan for this yahn. And it's one of the best plans I've ever had. EVER.
This will be my contribution to the Red Scarf Project hosted by the Orphan Foundation of America. Pink is a relative of Red, therefore I feel justified in making a pink scarf and calling it a red scarf.
Thanks to Miss Norma for ringing the bell for this worthy cause.
Kids. They are never too old for love!

Pink, in our house, is what we call red after someone, who will remain nameless, does the laundry. Hopefully, when he washes socks, both get in the same load.

Is that a southern "fahm" or a Northern "fahm"?

Oh man, another no-awth sho-awh yahn shawp? Do we need another one? How am I ever going to keep them all in business?

The yarn is gorgeous and looks so fluffy! Cant wait to see finished pics!

That is darned pretty yarn, sorry "yahn".
I think it's going to make some pretty girl blush just as pink.

That packaging would make me buy the yarn. They should set up some scarf kits like that just to tempt people like me.
I have a sock picture to send to you as sook as I replace the broken cord for my camera.
Thanks for always reminding us to look up!

That's wicked nice yahn!

Your new yahn looks scrumptious.

Sandy --I tried to find an email address for you, but have to resort to blog comment instead. If you're just beside yourself because you have no one to knit red mittens for, I know a place in Maine that will take them, so ask me. . .me, I'm about to make a red scarf. I had given up, because I knew I wouldn't make it by January 20, but the 31st is MILES away

Lovely combination! I look forward to seeing the finished piece. It can only be sumptuous. (You speak Bostonian very well.)

Ohhhhhh, Sandy!!!! If anyone even TRIES to tell you that's not a shade of red, I'll take 'em out at the knees, I promise. I know one thing for sure: The resulting scarf from that yahn is going to make one college kid very, very HAPPY.

Heh - I made similar color rationalizations! :)

Do you realize I have no red yarn in my stash? AND I am in the Stashalong and can't (shouldn't) go buy any. What's a grrl to do!? Do you think I can knit pink? You

Posted by: margene on 01.13.2006 AT 06:34 PM

That is a great idea. I'm sure that yahn will make a fantastic red scarf! :)

Address for Yahns in the Fahms please - I must make a stop now!

The Fahmhouse Yahn looks scrumptious...it reminds me of bubble gum, in a good way. I'm sure your (light) red scarf will be much appreciated and loved!

That yahn is indeed lovely and just my favorite shade of pink. I loved your pronounciation guide - as a gal from the south, we sometimes need translations :)
