02.05.2006 :: It's Sunday and the weather's fine!
Today, looking up there's this:
Looking down there's this:
Shhhh! It's the jaywalker sock and I've started the heel! I don't want to jinx it, you know, this being my 5th try on this sock!
The rest of the day will consist of more of that, some laundry, a nice roast beef dinner (the hubby loves his beef, what can I say?) and the super bowl.
Life is good!

Beautiful socks. I will do that pattern someday - I was going to do them for my first ever pair for the Knitting Olympics, but I figured I'd try a pattern that stays straight until I get the shaping bugs figured out.
And I'll have you know that now I think of you every time I look at the sky. (Today it's warm (70) and hazy-cloudy.)

Sandy, a belated happy blogiversary wish. I'm home from a week in the hospital and having a heckuva time catching up on all my reading. Hope it was as lovely as one of your skies.

Very pretty yarn, such a great colorway for spring.

I like the way those jaywalkers are looking. I'm definitely going to jump on that bandwagon one of these days.

Your yarn and mine, I bet they could swap stories on us. I finally picked up the pure angora sitting there long awaiting its turn--began, frogged, tried again, frogged--six times. Frogging angora is not good for one's sanity. I finally changed my sweater so I had one on in a color that didn't clash with the yarn, and suddenly the silly stuff knew what it wanted to be when it grew up. And now it's behaving and playing nicely with its needles.
Love the sky photos. Beautiful. The sock, too. They go well together.

Hi Sandy,
After googling for more info on the St. Brigit pattern, I discovered an old post of yours about the St. Brigit sweater from Aran Knitting. Did you ever knit it? Do you still have the book/pattern? Where did you get it? Love the jaywalker yarn.

I've had my own sock-knitting problems of late. I'm on my third sock pattern with one ball of yarn. I hope it works before the yarn gives out or becomes hopelessly tangled. LOL I hope I don't jinx you. Five tries! And so pretty. Lovely yarn.

I really love that colorway you're using for the Jaywalker. I'm still too cowardly to knit them, m'self. I keep hearing horror stories about fit, and I don't have the patience to mess with it. Break a...um...yarn? needle? well, I hope the heel works, how's that?

Oh my, what a wonderful colorway........may I ask, what is that yarn? It's gorgeous, just like the sky!

Wow...looking down is as pretty as looking up!

I come via Stephanie, but I've heard much about you. Thanks for making me look at the sky throughout the day. It makes me happy.
Happy Bloggiversary, (and lovely socks), she says quietly, so as to avoid the 6th try...

Oh, that sock is looking lovely. Those colors are very spring-y; they remind me of Easter eggs and the first flowers of spring. It's perfect for the weather around here now, too, though I'm a bit scared that I've got spring fever and it's only early February. I feel like I'm just asking for another big snowstorm a la the one where your husband was removing snow from the greenery.

Your jaywalker is turning out so lovely, Sandy! I am sure the fifth time is the charm.

What a lovely sky and (whispering)lovely sock! I myself, have gotten myself in *way* over my head signing up for the Fair Isle team for the Knitting Olympics. (What was I thinking???) any suggestions?? Brain scan, maybe?? By the way, Happy Bloggiversary!

What a beautiful sky and the yarn for that jaywalker is just gorgeous
Posted by: janine on 02.06.2006 AT 06:08 AM
If it goes wrong again, have you thought of framing it & hanging it on the wall to drool over? That wool is gorgeous, and your knitting so far does it justice. You are doing what thre rest of us aspire to, even after 30 years of knitting! Nice sky, too.

Jaywalkers are beautiful. I swatched for my Olympic Jaywalker effort today with some STR (Seastone), however, when I looked at the pattern, it calls for 400+ yds for Jaywalkers and my STR only has 200 (an OLD skein)? Do you think this is accurate? What was I thinking?

Oohhh, beautiful colorway on that sock!! And what skies? Send some of that blue Westward, okay? xoxo

The colourway is really beautiful; they are going to be really nice when they are finished. And you will finish them. Good luck with the heel - I am sure the sock Gods have tested you enough!

It's pretty here also - not to mention a little nippy here - (55 degrees for high here today is chilly!) - Love the sky - it looks about like that here too ( but I bet it is colder there).
I know about doing a sock over and over again!
