02.09.2006 :: Hands In! GO TEAM!

As all the knitters are prepping themselves for the all important Knitting Olympics on this, Olympic Eve, let me take this opportunity to remind all of you these things:
~The newly legislated Leave No Knitter Behind Act: This important law states that no matter what, all knitters will get to the finish line even if they have to be carried over. We, the knitting spectators will do all we can to make sure of this.
~Stretching is important. Muscles are your friends. Tendons are your loved ones. Treat them kindly. If they balk, give them a break!
~It's important to carb up. Eat a nice spagetti dinner to have the energy for the long opening ceremony and subsequent events. Protein is essential. Eat small meals, often. There is no excuse for snapping at family members because of low blood sugar!
~Get plenty of rest. Rest is healing. And energy to start again. Please remember to go to bed.
~Remember: It's the process. If you do not finish, marvel at the progress you have made, the friends found along the way.
Go Team!

Yay Sandy! I'm going to knit happily on my WIPs, and get a gold medal for my work!

I haven't started casting on yet because my llama was not dry...but I have been told I'm one of the only idiots to spin AND knit for this event. And since the hat is going to be rechristened We Call Them Deadheads, I feel I am doing right by the Grateful Dead by being at least two days late with the caston ;-)

Thanks for the support. You forgot the merlot. The merlot is very important. Luckily, it pairs quite nicely with spaghetti.

Sandy,
I am just a watcher also - I figure there were plenty of Olympic knitters already.
I will be part of the audience, watching the sky with you. :)

Thanks for the support! Mmm, spaghetti sounds good :)

In return for your support (got 34 rows in at lunch so I'm off to a great start), I found these skies for you. I couldn't find an email address, though.

Man, I feel like I just got my pre-game, rub-down pep talk! Tape my wrists, too? Haha. Thanks, Sandy! You're the best.

Thank you for the support...I think we're gonna need it!

Posted by: Imbrium on 02.10.2006 AT 01:27 PM

Wait. Does the rest part mean taking care of hangovers too? :)

Posted by: Libby on 02.10.2006 AT 01:02 PM

All good advice, Sandy. May they all do well!

Posted by: margene on 02.10.2006 AT 10:55 AM

Ahhh. The spaghetti - I almost for got about that. Now I know what we're having for dinner.

I loved the post - thanks for the encouragement. Having never knit lace before I'm pretty sure I'll be among the stragglers so it's nice to know about the Leave No Knitters Behind Act.

I'll be rooting you girls all on...no Olympics for me this year, but I will be lifting a glass to those of you who are!

Posted by: Kim on 02.10.2006 AT 10:12 AM

I'm a huge fan of the Leave No Knitters Behind Act - thanks for the legislation! :)

Leave No Knitters Behind Act. I love you.

Sandy, I have named you my official knitting coach for the olympics (with appropriate links to your site, I might add)! Hope this is okay, but you have been so sweet and encouraging and I feel you deserve this prestigeous appointment! With last evening's post here, I can see that I have chosen well!!! I love the "I'll Just Watch You Knit" button! If you can get JenLa to come up with a button for you as coach, I'll post that on my site as well!
Go Team!!

Excellent! I love that legislation - it's international, right? I must admit the part I'm most excited about is the get together in Toronto this evening. A big ol' knitting pub night! Can't wait!

Timely reminders. We're in count down mode now ....

Posted by: Ruth on 02.10.2006 AT 08:18 AM

ha! you make me laugh.

thanks for the pointers.

Posted by: maryse on 02.10.2006 AT 06:33 AM

That's great advice Sandy!

Posted by: Kelly on 02.10.2006 AT 06:08 AM

You are SO funny, Sandy! LOL. Thanks for the laugh. I'll just be in the cheering section also! Go Team!

Posted by: Jean on 02.10.2006 AT 05:46 AM

Thank you for the reminders, Sandy! I'm just glad there'll be knitting during the loooong opening ceremonies. I can't imagine getting through the parade of athletes without knitting to do! I hope you've got a good seat for the festivities!

Posted by: --Deb on 02.09.2006 AT 10:14 PM

Thanks for the great list! I can feel your support from my knitting couch!

Posted by: Jane on 02.09.2006 AT 10:03 PM

You're not doing the Homer Simpson knit along? You get to sit on the couch, drink beer(water, wine, etc) and not finish anything! I am starting a Gansey for Daughter #1 or Celtic Dreams for myself. But now to finish the baby bootie tonight so I don't break the rules! No finishing!!!

Posted by: Chris on 02.09.2006 AT 09:55 PM

Oh, excellent list. I am going to direct Team Midwest's Official Spectator over here to read up...

Posted by: Chris on 02.09.2006 AT 09:16 PM

So, you'll really carry me over the finish line? Cool!

Posted by: Carole on 02.09.2006 AT 09:13 PM

Well said!
