02.24.2006 :: Glumly I sit

I have had a miserable week. And yet, I feel miserable saying that. Because honestly, my life is good. Nothing horrible happened to me. No one died. No metal rolling objects were involved in a crash. But yet....I am miserable. A poor excuse for a human being. I am glum. More than blah. GLUM. Downright icky. Every day has gotten a bit worse and I couldn't even post here because it sounded all like
BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHCOMPLAINBLAHBLAH. And it is, truthfully. But here I am anyway.
This is the longest I've ever felt like this and I keep trying to pick my brain to see what it is. But frankly, I can't concentrate that hard for that long. I don't want to think. Or do. I'd go to bed in a minute. I know.
Depression.
Yippe. But what if it's more than that? You know....THE CHANGE? Hormones?? Cripes! That makes me even grumpier.
Tonight I decided that making some chicken curry will cheer me up. You know, slicing vegetables with a huge chef's knife can't be bad for me! And eating some yummy chicken curry will be a good thing. With a glass of wine. Just for medicinal purposes, of course. Of course, this meant a trip to Whole Foods, which is my new favorite grocery market in the world. Or at least in MY world. That trip cheered me up a bit. I did buy a scoop of tiramisu and I'm not ashamed to admit that I sat in the parking lot and enjoyed every last morsel of it!
And on the way home, I saw a cloud. It was a small cloud that was colored orange in a sky of dark clouds. I believe it was trying to give me a message, although I couldn't tell you what. But that little orange cloud helped.
Cute helps too. Fig's got lots of that!

Hey, if you need some bunny therapy, come for a visit. Little baby BB is wonderful to snuggle!

Ah, the change. OK, I've been going through it since 1991...yes, you read that RIGHT! Hot Flashes...I'm the hot flash queen. Actually, overall it's not a bad place to be.

Think of the things that usually float your boat, then do them, slowly, one at a time. Lights are a good idea. Walking outside (bundle up if cold so it isn't torture) can help. Hope it clears itself soon.

I've had a case of this too - I blame it on February -no one else really is to blame, might as well blame a month :)
I hope your feeling better soon - I keep telling myself March is only (x) days away.

Sounds like the winter blahs have set in. Luckily spring is just around the corner hang in there!

I hear ya, all the way over here on the other side of the world. Sending hugs!

I know its really hard to see through a fog like this, but it really does lift and things will feel better. Find the little things (tiramisu?!) that help give you a lift, and know that there are friends out here who care.

You know, we're rooting for you. Soon the sun will brighten, warm the earth, and thaw our souls. Hang on.

Oh Sandy, not you too! I had a horrible week too. I think a little chocolate, some sock therapy and a margarita ought to cure it though. I hope so.

Aw, Sandy, I'm sorry to hear you've had such a miserable week. I'm so glad you at least had such a good trip to Whole Foods. That's something, right? Go snuggle the kitty. That's got to help. Find something orange to admire. (I'm guessing that won't be a hard thing to find.) Look back over some of those stunning sky photos. And don't forget, we're all here to cheer you up!

You have every right to be glum. Winter, no sun, cold, it's all glummy. We're supposed to be getting a Whole Foods market in our town. I can't wait! Pamper yourself and know that it will pass.

I think a full-spectrum lamp may be in order. We bought one at Sam's Club for $20. Before we bought one, the husband seemed to hibernate all winter.(We will NOT talk about his grumpiness....)
We love Whole Foods. If I had been there, I would have done the same with the tiramisu! But, right now I am eating popcorn with marshmallow sauce.

Good luck with the mood thing. Dark chocolate!? Some Sex and the City DVDs from the video store? These are desperate times and the call for desperate measures. I might even suggest a little shoe shopping. Shhhh!!! Retail therapy is ONLY in case of emergency.

OMG Fig's looks like my Bright Eye's did. WOW!
Smile Spring will be here soon along with wonderful sunshine.

Well, that Dave is so wise, he took all the words right out of my mouth. I ate a quarter of a BIG box of macadamia/caramel/chocolate delights that my Better Pal sent me, and had a cup of some sort of amazing pineapple tea she sent, too. It was pretty nice to get that package, I'll tell ya.

Hmm.....wine used for medicinal purposes? Wine should be used for all purposes! It makes one smile ;-)

But it's not turdy Tuesday.
I can sympathize, my week was crap, too. I found that standing in the sunshine, outside, and raising my face up toward the sun helped. My mom has SAD (Seasonal Affected Disorder), and she told me to do that. It may help.
Of course, scoop of tiramisu and a cute kitty never hurt anyone, either.
But, hey, it's finally the weekend!

I feel your pain.
Truly.
Last week I was glum beyond reason -- even had a full fledged came-out-of-nowhere sobfest in the car Thursday night --- on my way home from KnitNight no less!
One thing that helped was compiling a box of goodies for my secret pal. I decided that just because I felt like shit was no reason that I couldn't brighten her day instead (clearly mine was going to be gloomy as hell anyway, so I sent the sunshine somewher to do good). That was lift one. Then Friday night I went to hear excellent live music. That helped a lot too..
I hope you feel better soon!
(P.S. Wanna join another Better Pal group? I'm seriously tempted to start one...)
HK, who is jealous of your Whole Foods.
