03.16.2006 :: Spey Valley Socks
Finished: One pair of Spey Valley socks from Knitting on the Road by *my sock and mitten guru Nancy Bush! (* I had written the word INFAMOUS here, but I do believe that it has more of a negative meaning than I meant, so it is now replaced! )
Yarn: Trekking XXL, color 105, autumn
Pattern: Spey Valley
Needle size: US1
See the lateral braids above and below the cuff design? These are said to represent the rings around a barrel of Scottish whiskey. I don't know about whiskey, but I love the vikkel braid!
It's not wrong to love toes, is it?
Because this is my favorite toe knitting. Decreases are done all around the sock instead of concentrated at the sides!
My favorite part of the socks? The little green heel on the left sock in the first picture above. I think it's so cute!
This pair of socks marks the first of next year's Christmas gifts that I will put away. Not bad. It's not even November yet!
Don't worry, my sock needles were not empty for long!

Wow Sandy. I love that yarn. Good for you! A Christmas gift already knitted. Happy Corned Beef and Cabbage. I love the green milk idea! Will try that next year!

I love Spey Valley and made two pair (for me). Any toe that doesn't involve the Kitchener stitch makes me happy but that is one of my favorite toes. Good work on Christmas knitting!

The socks are beautiful, congratulations. I'm amazed that you were able to knit matching socks out of TXXL. Maybe it was the colorway I chose, but for the life of me I couldn't see a repeat in the pattern.

Beautiful socks! I have a skein of that yarn in that color and it is lovely. I can't believe you are knitting for Christmas. Good for you! Someone will be thrilled with the socks.

They are so pretty! I've spent 2 days looking for a sock pattern to use with the skein of Trekking XXL that I have! I even have that book. Guess I'll go dig it out. My yarn isn't near that pretty and springlike though, what a pretty color!
Beautiful socks!

That yarn is really nice. I do like that toe decrease, also. I've got the book, so I'll have to investigate. (But why "infamous"? Or should I not ask?)
