03.27.2006 :: Just great!
You know, it's funny! The body has a way of dealing with things. I hardly feel the headache now. You know, with all the agonzizing lower back pain that mysteriously showed up yesterday. If I were moving a refrigerator, I'd understand a back this bad. But there was no big dramtic incident. Not a one. Tell my back that!
Sitting causes extreme pain so I hope you'll excuse a little blog break. I'll be here, just in short (very short) doses!
Don't worry, though. You can find me by the trail of items I'm leaving behind me. I seem to be dropping everything my hands touch. I can't bend to pick them up, yanno! I figure it's a like a breadcrumb trail. Sort of like leaving the light on!
Now..where's that advil?

Sandy, Firstly, have your MD check you out. If your pain is "muscular", consider seeing my chiropractor. He is one of only 50 chiros in the US with the advanced licensure for ART. This is a technique that releases scar tissue and entrapped nerves...again, he is highly licensed. I am a nurse and could not do my work nor knit without his care. I had disabling muscle pain/headaches/nerve problems that he has healed. He is near the Natick Mall. Contact me privately if you want his number. Kate

Oh, ouch!! I hope you're feeling better this morning ... and go easy, even if you are! Give yourself time to heal ....

Hope you are feeling better today. Take good care of yourself.

Ouchouchouch! Lots of nonsteroidals antiinflams, gentle activity (walk, etc) and being good to yourself.
Someone else will pick things up for a change.

Take care of yourself, blogland will keep. I hope you feel better soon.

So sorry about your pain. I hope you feel better soon. Try to keep us ( all your loyal readers!) posted on how you are doing whenever you can.

Feel better. When I had back problems a few years back, I went and treated with a chiropractor -- really helped (and I was skeptical).

Severe back pain and dropping things right and left? I wonder if you have a pinched nerve? Don't suffer for days with that pain -- get it checked out.
And feel better! :-)

Very sorry to hear you are hurting again. Do you think the shoulder-back-neck pain could be related? I have had a cervical spinal fusion at two levels and before the fusion the pain appeared in weird places. I would advise a spine doc, since that worked for me (after seven years).
they were good at finding the cause of the pain and managing it. My friend, with cervical neck disc issues, went to a pain management center. Hope you go to see "someone" and get some relief. Mary

Hope you feel better soon! Your biorhythms must've bottomed out or something...

Sandy I hope you feel better soon. I agree you should really think about seeing someone!

I had a bout of very sudden and severe neck and shoulder pain last week. Large handfuls of ibuprofen and a trip to a chiropractor (a first for me) have helped immensely. I hope you're feeling better soon. Pain is no fun.

Massage, massage, massage; hot compress, cold compress; ibuprofen. It's never moving the 'fridge that gets me, either; it's stuff like bending over to dry between my toes after a shower...
Take care of yourself and get better soon. ; )

I agree about getting it checked out. Even if it isn't serious, there is a lot doctors can do to ease the pain. In the meantime, try laying down with your back roughly at a 45 degree angle. I have chronic back pain and have found that to be better than laying down.

Oh yuck!!! What a bummer. I hope you feel better soon.

Oh ick. I'm so sorry. Feel better soon!

Oh honey. I so know what you're talking about. A month ago I was seized up like a statue. It's been massage, chiro, advil, and stretching that brought me back. Take hot baths. And there's a yoga half hour on channel 3 at 6:30 am (set the recorder) for when you can move again.

Doctor. Doctor. And did I mention doctor? Yeah, oh, and doctor. Doctor.

Sandy I'm so sorry to hear you're not feeling well - I'm going to second the chorus of 'you should have this checked out'... better to be safe than sorry, right? :)

I agree with Kate about it maybe being an ingestion thing. I have no problem with Splenda but when I eat onions or some of the other things that cause migraines I get a major headache, some tummy problems, and then a lower back/sciatica type pain. My friend who teaches at the local massage school taught me to rub the long muscles of my stomach (from the navel down to the front of the hips,*Core muscles*) for back pain. They're more accesible to you and by loosening those it helps to relax the lower back. Hope you get relief.

Feel better! And, Icy-Hot patches from the drugstore are great . . . my mother swears by them.

Hugs and alternating ice and heat packs to you! I'm with the others - go get this checked out! My choice of practioner is a chiropractor - he's done wonders for my neck/back/wrist structures and banished my autoimmune disease too, all with no drugs. But whatever type you are comfortable with, do go see someone!

oh dear.. not good.. symptoms sound like it would be important to check out with a professional of some sort Sandy..not to be alarmist, but there are a few things it could be that getting help sooner (rather than later) would greatly decrease it..Ooppss.. sorry, sounding like my MD father now :-)
sending more *hugs* your way. Hope that at least you're able to knit a bit :-)

That's how my problem started over a year ago! Take care and if it doesn't improve right away find a PT to help you!

oooo...back pain is the worst! I hope you are feeling much better really fast. Ice on a back does wonders.

I'm sorry, baby. Wish I could give you a hug and then pick up all the shit you've dropped. Hee.

Sorry you're feeling low. (Been there, done that. Fortunately a good chiropractor was able to help.)Hope you're better soon.

Hope you're feeling better soon! My shoulders are killing me today - so I can commiserate. Take it easy!

Go get checked out. My jaw pain (close to the TMJ) turned out to be an abscess in the bone that landed me in the hospital.

Sandy I hope you feel better soon! Hugs to you (gentle ones)!

Oh, Sandy. Definitely get it checked out, k? Please?
Posted by: Norma on 03.27.2006 AT 08:18 AM
Sweet, we won't complain about the lack of blogging if YOU get yourself to your doctor and get checked out, ok? The mystery headaches were bad enough. If your body's that unhappy with you for no discernable reason, get your doctor to find it. Please.

Yikes! Poor Sandy! hmm... headaches and backaches... have you been consuming any Splenda lately? This is EXACTLY how I found out I have an allergy to it. It swells up my brain and spinal fluid (oh, isn't that a lovely allergy!) and gives me migraines/headaches/backaches and shaky hands. So, while WW says "all Splenda all the time", I say "well, I'll learn to cut back on sugar and the baked goods." I know have to ask people "did you make it with Splenda?"
I am sending good thoughts to you! Looks like B has her hands full! College picking is crazy! Are those ALL her ACCEPTANCES? jeez..! Just remember, take a day of from work or a few lunchhours in a week and call Financial Aid departments...there is ALWAYS extra moneys. you just need to find it.

Big hugs, sugar. I'll be thinking of you. Feel better soon.

Take care of yourself and feel better soon! Hope everything is ok. Headaches and lower back pain is not fun- speaking from experience as a chronic sufferer.

Sandy- reading this post made me think of my Granddad. He's been gone nearly 22 years now, but I can still hear his voice if I complain about an ache. He would always come back with a "Com-er Kid - I'll stomp yer toe!" His reasoning - the first ache would be forgotten!
