05.16.2006 :: Dave got a great gift
Look what Norma gifted to Dave! Thoughtful, no? Especially with the advent of the Trek with Me knitalong. I mean, what knitter WOULDN'T like to receive a yarn gift? He loved it. In fact, he loved it so much that he opened his bag and showed Norma the trekking skein in the same colorway that he already owns. THAT is how much he liked it. And apparently, he likes it so much that he carries it around everywhere with him. Just in case. I am not judging. I have been known to carry yarn as an emergency too.
And when Dave showed Norma his twin yarn, Oh, they laughed! How funny was that, really? A coincidence among coincidences.
I was standing there, minding my own yarny business because I did not have any trekking on my person and incidentally, Dave had not recognized me as the blue sky Sandy that I am, when all of a sudden, Norma turned to me and said (in a ceremonious voice, of course) "here. you take it then" or something to that effect. So, I got Dave's yarn! All of a sudden, I had trekking in MY bag. Serendipity at it's finest. Can I pick a place to stand or what? I mean, if YOU had stood there, YOU would own some trekking right now, you know?
So, Dave got a great gift. I loved it!

P.S.
Let's talk basement, shall we? I have lived for about 3 years now (or so it seems )without hot water or heat. And it has rained. Up until this very moment. It is NOT raining right now. I had almost forgotten that it can stop raining. A couple of hours sans rain and the water has been pumped out of our basement. With any luck, I will have hot water by morning and heat by next week. Is this a good day, OR WHAT?

I'm sending massive amounts of hot water karma your way.

Trekking and hot water! Yes. You deserve both of them. Richly. :-)
I'm so glad things are looking up at your place. I was really worried about you!

I can't believe you don't have your hot water back yet! How the hell are you managing? I thought three days was bad enough. Hopefully things dry out for you soon.

The yarn was meant to be yours
Yay heat and hot water!

We have heat...90 degrees and breaking records! Sending good thought to you for dry days, warm showers and a nice toasty house.

We had heat and hot water and a pull-out couch. You coulda come here! :) Sorry to hear about water in the basement. My parents were pretty dry but my aunt in Amesbury (who always loved her house by the river?)- she's still underwater. Blue sky this morning... there's hope yet!

When we had that brief period of a break in the clouds, a little blue showing through and that, what was it? That firey orb that made the air warm and me squint? I thought of you as well. And I thought, "this must be something like what Noah felt!" The sound of no rain on the roof, the actual quiet, seems strange though. Will we ever get used to it?

Howdy there!
Just wanted to share some sky with you... Hope your day turned out as pretty as ours, even if it was only for a few hours.

That is my favorite Trekking colorway. :)
I hope you are bundled up in mounds of warm fleecy things!

Woah! I just bought some Trekking XXL today! (You know, I have to start right away on those Father's Day socks-two pair-one for my DH and one for Dad.) I have used Meilenweit up til now. Saw the Trekking and had to have it. Heard about it on one of these silly knitting blogs...wonder whose that was? ;->

Here's hoping for stuff that's hot, besides Trekking yarn. We had some microseconds of sun this afternoon. I thought of you.

Um, Sandy, YOu were the one with the gift, even if it was regifted.
Wait, can it be "re-gifting" if it only touched my hand for less than 5 seconds before it was snatched out and shoved into YOUR hands? Hmmm, where's my copy of Emily Post???

Wow, that IS a good gift!! Great color, too.
Hey--did you see the Martha's Vineyard Sky pictures I've been posting the last couple days? Wet, changeable weather, but that's making some really dramatic skies. I keep pulling the car over to take pictures! (I'd complain about your getting the whole sky-photo thing started, but I'm having too much fun.)

Here's hoping you get blue skys and hot water....yesterday!

Sending you dry karma!
Posted by: Kathy on 05.16.2006 AT 07:22 PM
Hmmm, remind me to come stand near you should I visit the states sometime soon - that Trekking looks Lush! I am sure Dave will be able to dye something up to make up for the 're-gift'

Oh yeah! I've been worried about your basement. Worried enough that I keep checking mine.
I have no pump. I live in fear.

That's pretty yarn, looks kinda like the one I had to order after seeing it on blogs. Hope you get warm and clean and dry real soon. It is even unually cool and rainy here in Alabama.

Hmm. now that I revisit the memory, there was a bit of GRABBING yarn out of Dave's hands, wasn't there?
Yeah, now that I think of it.....
RE-GIFTER~

HAHAHAHAHAH, POOR no-Trekking Carole. I'll have to make it up to her by stealing someone ELSE'S gift out of their hands and giving it to HER instead. Hmmmm, who shall be my next victim? Scheming.....
Posted by: Norma on 05.16.2006 AT 06:04 PM
I hope you get warm and dry soon. Screw the shower and take the longest, hottest bath you've ever taken in your life.
Heat by next week? Why would that take so long? You can have some of my heat - it's 97 here right now. I'll send you some if you send me some of your rain.
Posted by: Carrie on 05.16.2006 AT 06:01 PM
So, ummm, Sandy? I was standing right there and I didn't get any Trekking. I'm just saying.
Posted by: Carole on 05.16.2006 AT 05:47 PM
p.s. It's six minutes later and I am still rereading your post and laughing my eyes out. This is good.
p.p.s. I am not laughing about the no heat or hot water part, but the other part. I am not that callous. :D
Posted by: Norma on 05.16.2006 AT 04:44 PM
Three YEARS without heat or hot water? Hee. It probably FEELS that way. How have you coped, really? Seriously?
Wasn't it funny that Dave didn't know you were Blue Sky Sandy for the longest time? Who DID he think you were, anyway? Oh, we do have fun!
I hope you get showered and warm. I can smell you all the way up HERE!!!!
Posted by: Norma on 05.16.2006 AT 04:37 PM
I am with Dave, I take my Trekking XXL (#35) everywhere with me- it will soon get on the needles but for now......
