07.16.2006 :: Good news and bad news, complete with Craptastic picture

The bad news is that Derek was in an accident with the car.

This is the picture from Derek's camera phone. For some reason, he cannot mail it to me, so I took a picture of the picture. Hey, it works!
The Good news:
No one was hurt. This was an accident on the highway and could have had much worse consequences. The car that he hit was a Suburban and has not a scratch on it. So, since we are thinking GOOD NEWS, especially thinking about insurance, this is more good. But let me say again, no one was hurt. And could there be any more good news than that? Although, Derek did hurt his hand in a post accident incident in which his fist hit the steering wheel. This was, however, a GOOD sign that he was okay. Anger, in this case, was GOOD.
Bruised hand? Probably not so good.
With that out of the way, now it's time for the REALLY GOOD. Taking into consideration the age of the car (1994) and the damage done to the front end, which includes inside damage (battery and radiator) WE WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE TO GET A NEW CAR!!! And that, my blog friends, is Great news! (There still is the insurance aduster appointment tomorrow, let's cross our fingers)
You see, in the past, we run our cars until they do not have one more ounce of oomph in them. Then we get a new car. This one, while getting on in age and starting to need multiple, expensive repairs, still ran. Old faithful. This has taken the decision making process out of our hands.
Great news, indeed.
goodbye, old friend. You were good to us!

"just got home from spending the day at the mall, keeping cool, with Mack!
Testing, testing, 1,2,3. We were supposed to be walking, you know, getting
exercise, but it's really hard. I didn't spend a thin dime, myself, but my
cohorts didn't get away so easy.
This concludes this test of the emergency commenting system.
Over and out."

It's a rare day when a car accident turns out to be good news! I'm glad this was one of them. ;-)

It's amazing that an accident on the highway ended so well. So glad everyone's all right. And a new car sounds nice :)

I'm so glad no one was hurt... except the car. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Happy car shopping!

Glad he wasn't hurt. It might be worth considering pointing out on the insurance claim that the Suburban bumper is significantly higher than his bumper and his car wouldn't have been damaged had they been of even height. I presented that point and it saved me an at fault ding on my insurance- after all the truck froze up infront of me and I had no prayer in hell. Not sure what Derek's circumstances were.

So glad no one was hurt!! I'm like you on the car incident....I JUST traded in my FIFTEEN year old car for a new one! The down side is making a car payment and increased insurance after enjoying a hiatus!! Oh well....it'a always something!! I got a Honda Accord....really great car, enjoying it a lot! It is amazing at the options on cars "these days"!! LOL!! My old car didn't even have cup holders!!!LOL!! Mazda 6 was awfully nice too!!! Enjoy your car search!! Good time to buy now that the 2007 models are starting to come in!

Glad everything turned out ok and no one got hurt.

Whoa! Your 94 Taurus lasted that long?? We put ours to pasture in the back when the head gasket blew for the second time after 18 months and the dealer wouldn't do a thing for us. BTW, it is going to the junk yard this week. FINALLY!
=:8

Glad he's okay!

Whew! How does one get used to the kids driving around in CARS? We just traded in the completely spent previous model for a brand spankin' new version - you won't look back! (Except that it makes you park more cautiously to avoid dinks - oh the old days when who cared if someone slammed their car door into the side of the old car!)

Silver linings and all that. Glad Derek is not hurt. What kind you getting? Happy shopping! Take alcohol first to avoid sticker shock! :)

Scary stuff but glad there's mostly good news. Good luck with the new car shopping!

Glad nobody was hurt (hand-bashing the steering wheel doesn't OFFICIALLY count). And really good about the new car (fingers crossed). If you had to have an accident, that's the way to do it!

Glad to hear he's okay, and that the only damage was to the car.

That said, if you want to come to Rock Hill, SC to buy a car, my honey will be glad to help you get the best deal possible! *wink-nudge*

Might I suggest a Nissan?

:)

Glad no one was hurt. Having just been through a similiar incident, I know how important that is - and the happiness of a new car in the garage, too! Have fun picking one out.

Cool...but not cool...but COOL!

Sometimes, bad things happen to good people to bring out GREAT OUTCOMES!

Hope his hand gets better...lol

Posted by: Gia on 07.16.2006 AT 04:21 PM

Ummm...yay?
Glad this turned out as well as it did, and he and all involved are ok.

Thank goodness no one was hurt! I hope the finances of a new car work well for you!

Any time there's a auto accident and no one is hurt, it's good news. Good luck with the insurance adjuster!
