07.25.2006 :: swaying in the breeze or KEEP THOSE THINGS COVERED, LADY!
Why, yes, I AM on vacation, thanks for noticing. :) *Norma says I'm being insufferable about it all. The nerve, really. Oh, it's TRUE. But you know, the nerve.
I headed out to the porch to do the knitting pictures in pajamas which is required of every knit blogger. It all went well, until I realized that as I was bent over the knitting, arranging it lovingly lounging in the sun, I realized that my PJ top was sort of....well...gaped open shall we say? You know, people, I am going to be 45 years old and the chest region doesn't quite stand as PERKY as they used to. Realizing that my private area was not quite as private as it should be, I did the blogger glance around. You know, "did anyone see that" kind of look, slyly looking left and right for the neighbors.
You guessed it. There was a neighbor. Oops. Sorry, Mr. Elderly neighbor.
I tell you this story so that you will enjoy these knitting pictures. I have given up a lot to have them posted here. And I wonder, would you visit me in jail if I have to spend time for exposing myself?
Trekking? Or not trekking? You decide:
Not trekking. It is quite trekking-ish though, isn't it?
It is meilenweit colortweed, trekking's long lost twin. I love it! It was a wonderful BP gift from Terri!
And this
Is a surprise project. It's not a surprise for you. It is for me. I did not plan it. I did not KNOW that I wanted to knit it. But all of a sudden, like an alcoholic black out, I found that I had printed out the pattern for the French Market bag and cast on. I have found that some of my absolute favorite projects have happened that way. For me, too much planning means failure. Who couldn't use a new bag, anyway?
Today, my second full vacation day, for those who are counting, I will be keeping my eyes on The Christmas in July special when I'm home and then dropping obscene amounts of money when Bethany and I go dorm shopping.

I've been reading your blog for a long time, and it always makes me smile. I've been living on the south coast of RI for the last 8 years, but lived in Lynnfield and worked in Topsfield for many years before moving. While I absolutely love it here, your blog is always a "trip home" for me! Your sky pictures and special places on the north shore always evoke warm and wonderful memories for me!
Thank you for sharing - love your knitting...love your blog!
Happy knitting!

Garment discipline is a thankless task, seconded only by boob discipline. Just ask my neighbors....

Heh, brings new meaning to the term "Hang over"...without the alcohol.
And the tweed is really tweet. (Sweet. Bad, in know.)

Loving that sock.
With the way things are going, I may be in a neighboring cell. o.0
Oh, and I do all knitting photo shots in the backyard. The neighbors already know I'm weird. *L*

You just made me laugh with the vision of your neighbor seeing a bit too much of your chestal regions! I think we've all done embarrasing things like that as knitting bloggers, oops!

I know the blogger-glance-over-the-shoulder move. I wonder what my neighbor thinks of me! She has poor hearing and I can't imagine myself trying to explain the knitting/photos/blogging thing!

The other morning in walked into the kitchen and my SIL said, "My you look perky this morning." She meant my attitude but I instantly wanted to say "It's amazing what a good bra will do." ;-) Perky is a thing of the past for me.

I enjoyed my one day of fun and remain envious of our two weeks. It will go by way to quickly so don't be TOO smug about it.

Oh Sandy. Those are GORGEOUS. Must. Not. Buy. Tweed...
I remember going dorm shopping. It was fun and scary all at once. Good luck with the extra long twin fitted sheets! ;-) I think they are a little easier to find these days.

I'm sure you gave Mr. Elderly Neighbor a thrill he will remember all day.

I was, err, swaying a bit myself when I put the dog out this morning. Lucky for me, no neighbors were around!

Yes, I would visit you in jail, and really, think about the mad knitting time you would have if you were locked up. Or can you only crochet in jail? That might be cruel and unusual punishment....

The sock is beautiful! :) Enjoy that vacation; we get way too few days off!
Posted by: Helen on 07.25.2006 AT 09:40 AM
Some of my best projects were totally unplanned too! And some of my worst ones more carefully planned than complex military strategy. Keep enjoying your vacation!
