07.29.2006 :: And I perspire
"It's not the heat, it's the humidity". You hear this statement all the time. And yesterday I would have agreed with you. But today? I am going to go out on a limb here and state that it's the heat OR the humidity. I hate it all. Today it is techinically less humid but the air feels like an oven. Good thing summer around here doesn't last long or you'd have to slap me around a bit to stop my bitchin'! :)
I'm all excited for 2 things.
One:
Alton Brown's new show, Feasting on Asphalt is on tonight. Not only is he easy on the eyes, has a great sense of humor and cooks well, this show appeals to the wanderer in me. I cannot wait.
Two:
Andy and Derek are out shopping for our new car as we speak. We MAY be leasing a Nissan Altima. Leasing seems like the best option for our finances at this moment (please read: poor as hell) (remember we have 2 college students this year) (and we just are not rich) (we are just middle america, struggling to keep up with the increases all around us). Where was I?
Yes. Altima. I don't expect it to come driving in the driveway today, but soon. I have never owned a brand new car, by the way. The thought excites me. More than I ever thought it would. (Or course, we would not technically own it, but lease it, details..)
Three:
This one is a review. Watch Feasting on Asphalt.
You'd think I was getting paid to be a billboard, wouldn't you?
Oh, yeah, my sky is there on the top. Hot. Blue. Beautiful clouds. My world.

So, you liked AB's new show? I wanted to watch but was, um, otherwise occupied this weekend. I hope they'll repeat it sometime I can catch it!

It's so funny to me that we (you and me specifically) share the 'same' sky, but that I come back EVERY week to see what yours looks like.
And I agree. It's the heat AND the humidity. Man, remind that I was complaining when I get grumpy about the snow. In less than four months, probably.

Oh, how very exciting! I didn't know Alton Brown had a new show. I can hardly wait :0)

Oh Sandy, did you tape it? I would pay to be able to see Alton Brown do a road show.
Being able to watch his show was the highlight of my maternity stay - especially since I wasn't allowed to eat for 2 days, not like the hospital food was that good anyway.

I, too, hate the heat but love Alton Brown. He has an article in this month's Guidepost's magazine, and I was hoping against hope that he was single, but alas, he's married. So cute, funny and smart. Love his show. Will look forward to the new one.

I caught AB's first episode by accident and I loved it, just like Good Eats, also enjoyed the new Jamie and Bobbie Dean show, they are also easy on the eyes.

I feel totally out of the loop. Believe me, my chef last night did not look like any Alton Brown, and I have not even ever SEEN Alton Brown. But if you say he's easy on the eyes, that's all I have to say. My chef was NOT Alton Brown. But he did a pretty decent meal, as I've already told you. eDiets is not going to be happy with my performance, I'm afraid.
So, Dave doesn't like to be landlocked? What, does he have dreams of taking to the High Seas -- mwahahaha? Besides, Vermont is NOT landlocked. What's wrong with all these people who've never heard of the 6th largest freshwater lake in the world, which just happens to be connected to the St. Lawrence seaway, which just happens to be connected to ...yes, you guessed it....the SEA. :D

I dont care what the heat or humidity is reading, once it hits a certain point, hot is HOT!
Love the sky, beautiful!

I.AM.SO.SICK.OF.SUMMER!
Maybe it's time to move to Maine? Whaddya think? It's on the coast. Vermont is land-locked, so that's out of the question.

I've actually been looking forward all week to Alton's new show!

I love to watch Alton too. We heard about the show in one of our motorcycle magazines. It's too bad he got hurt.
And it's amazing how the horrible weather can make such beautiful skies.

Alright, alright....I'll watch Alton tonight.
I've been really happy with my Nissan, and I'm betting you'll be happy with yours.

I agree with you I don't like either that hot or the humid! Luckily fall is right around the corner. Great sky!

Pretty sky.
Yes, we do love that Alton Brown. Thanks for the reminder.

It's hot hot hot here, too, but hazier. My Saturday sky was very stormy, but it only added to the humidity and didn't decrease the heat, alas.
