07.30.2006 :: Where's the Bee?

What a day!
It started with my email address being banned from my server! Me! BANNED! It appears that my computer had a virus that the danged virus scan (with all it's bells and whistles and high tech knowledge )did not pick up and did some funky things all on it's own. The problem is now cleared up, but I am still banned. I'm taking a walk on the wild side, I guess. Living on the wrong side of the tracks. Yeah. I"m bad. So, my new email address is sanhurl[at]gmail.com.
Damned virii.
The day got better. Then worse.
Better because I finished the french market bag!

The darker yarn is cascade 220, shade unknown. The lighter pumpkiny color is a yarn that Leigh dyed with natural materials. I'm not sure exactly WHAT she used but this process fascinates me. Pick something growing in nature, boil it with wool and make a great color. Now, all you yarn dyers, and you know who you are, do not take this as a cosmic sign that I, deep inside long to dye wool. I dabbled. But I'm not interested in anything that detracts from my knitting time. But it's beautiful, isn't it? The Leigh yarn?

It is now felted and drying as we speak.
The worse?
I was wandering the yard in search of pretty when it happened. I stepped on a bee. Barefoot. Owie. Left foot, arch region. The bee did not fare well either. There is a small amount of swelling at this moment but there is a considerable amount of pain radiating up to my ankle when the foot even thinks about moving. A bee is so small but they do pack a considerable punch.
So, enjoy this picture. I sacrificed for it: Rose of Sharon

Where's the Bee? Oh, that's right! Under my foot!

Yay! Your French Market bag is so very nice. And with hand dyed ta' boot? Loverly.

But really, I comment because I have something to admit. When we (brothers and I) were kids, we used to have a contest to see who could step on the most bees while barefoot! Crazy, no? Looking back on it, I am sure that it was a way to punish me and make me do something incredibly stupid (which was easy when I worshipped my big brothers). In fact, this might have been the "game" that I always won. Sheesh.

Love the bag not that bee!!! Martin got the same treatment on our balcony minding his own business. The bee or wasp zoned in and attacked. Can you imagine? I hope it's feeling better.

Oh ugh! I stepped on a bee once, and it was horrible. Amazing how something so tiny can cause such terrible agony. I mean, how much venom can possibly fit inside a tiny little bee? (Answer: enough!)

Your F.M.B. is beautiful--such great colors! :-) I hope it felted well.

OUCH. I did that as a kid. I'll double appreciate the flower, as compensation for your sacrifice.

Ouch. Bee stings are bad with me, so this post is giving me the willies.

You are a superb blogger/friend (fiend?) to take a wound like that and still post beautiful pictures for us. MWwwaaah!!

Ouch ... bee stings are nasty! The bag looks great.

Posted by: Samantha on 07.31.2006 AT 12:08 PM

Ouch! Hope the foot feels better soon. The bag is great, can't wait to see it all felted up.

Ooh, I stepped on a bee last summer, in my bathroom before I had my contacts in. It was terrible. Keep off the foot!

Oh! The French Market Bag is beautiful! Leigh's yarn is such a lovely shade. She comes up with the coolest stuff, doesn't she?

Get that foot elevated! Ice! Mud! Peanut butter! No, wait..that's for ticks....

Youch!Well it is a beautiful picture.Your french market bag looks great.

Oh, MAN!!!! I've done that. You are damn right, IT HURTS. Has your foot swollen up like a balloon yet? Mine did. And we were on our way to one of our very few vacations in our lifetime. It was not a "sit on the beach" vacation, either -- it was a sightseeing vacation. Which is not good with a foot that is like a ham.

I love your Market Bag. I can't wait to see it felted! Leigh's yarn is gorgeous. Love the colors you chose. I might have to make me another one. I've had a felting urge lately.

Oh bummer about the foot. I've stepped on a bee too - I found benadryl or other antihistamines really helped with the pain & swelling....
Lovely photo!

I've stepped on a bee, too, and that hurts. Ice, ice, baby.

Virii and bees, not a good start to the day! The pictures are beautiful though. I like the colors on your French market bag.

Great bag. Bad bee.
And the virus: sucks. I'll be sure NOT to open emails from you ever again. (lol)
Hang in there, it's almost the weekend.
