08.01.2006 :: We continue our blue car run (we have always owned blue cars: some kind of sign)
I'd like to introduce you to our new car. Mr. Nissan Altima, special edition. I have never had a new car. Brand new car, you know, with 12 miles when we got it? I never even knew that I was a new car kind of person. I guess it was denial. I love this car more than a person should love a car. It drives like a dream. I feel FANCY in it. I can't wait to drive. Anywhere. Just drive. Of course, the line is long for the chance to drive around here. Too many drivers, too little car.
Is it wrong to thank your son for totalling your other car? Really?
Look! The rain even beads up wonderfully!
If you need me, I'll be in the car. I may have to sleep in it as the outrageous heat heads this way for a short stay.

When my sisters and I were little we shared a 3rd floor bedroom with a little window that overlooked our street. We loved to sit in the window and watch the cars go by, and when an especially nice one went by (which usually involved shark fins and skirts) we would cry, "Beauty Car!". Well, all I've got to say is "Beauty Car!"

It does look like a lovely car. I personally have never owned a new car, but now I feel like I am missing some sort of elemental life experience.

Pretty car. Congrats!
But yes, it is a little wrong to thank your son for totalling your other car. Really.

Sleep in it, sleep in it!!!!
So funny that you always have blue cars. Up until this most recent one, I always had red. And Abigail said she HATED the red cars. So she said, "If you're going to get a new car and you HAVE to get a red one .... at least get a different SHADE of red ...... LIKE BLUE!"
Heeheeeee, that always made me laugh. She was about 14 when she said that.

Oh, nice car. Congrats!

Ohhh so pretty!
I'm on a blue car bender myself. My first two cars were silver but the last two have been blue. Of course after my Saturn was totaled (a big ole truck hit me), I wanted a car that was almost exactly like my old car so it had to be blue. I wasn't ready to part with the Saturn when fate stepped in.

i love new cars. i loved (still do) my brand spanking new mini with a love that can only be compared to the love one feels for a child (well, i can imagine) -- a love so all consuming it was a bit sick.
i was afraid to drive it home.
enjoy your car.

YAY! I have never had a brand-new car, but someday I will, just to have one. Then I will go back to my little 1970 Maverick.
I think since your son totalled the other one, he shouldn't drive the new fancy one - you should drive him everywhere. :-D

Those Altimas are classy looking cars. Good choice!

Congratulations on your new car! that's very exciting for you! The first new car I ever bought the new car smell lasted long enough to drive it home and pick up the kids - then my 8 yo threw up in it. Hope yours lasts much longer than that!!

I just got a new car after having one for 10 years. I love the smell of a new car!! I handed the old one down to Hubby. it's a 96 toyota corolla with 191k on it. starts every day and is a faithful member of our family. new to him, his was a 94 toyota which we used a a trade for my 2006 corolla. We love corollas and hate car shopping so we stick with what we know. I'm hoping mine will be the new "old faithful" in 10 years. LOL
ENJOY YOUR CAR! YOU DESERVE IT.
