08.02.2006 :: Hello Muddah, hello faddah!
I know a lot of people are in the same boat as I am. Perhaps that's why this boat is so sweaty and sticky. This is the weather as I write this, almost 8 pm tonight, August 2nd. It is 92.2 degrees F inside my home, no we do not have air conditioning. It is 91.8 degrees F outside. Cooling off. Tomorrow is supposed to be better though. I can't wait! (In metric, that would be TOO DAMNED HOT CELCIUS)
Camp Petunia is now completed!
This is Petunia Plant that my Mother In Law placed in my care for one week. I am good with plants. But I was quite frightened that I would kill this one off. For a couple of reasons. One: MIL loved this plant more than a person has a right to. But she did. This is one LOVED plant. TWO: This plant, in it's natural habitat, got loads and loads of blazing, constant sun. My yard does not have this kind of sun (thank god, see above). We are quite shady around here with a bit of morning sun. THREE: Plants do not do well with transition. Especially from blazing sun to comfy shade. Although it is recommended for me, not Petunia here.
One week of frequent waterings spiked with some Schultz's food, lots of deadheading, it is now back in my MIL's care.
Camp Petunia, sleepover camp, is now concluded. I'm happy to report that there were no fatalities.
FRENCH MARKET BAG, FELTED
The yarns felted up well. I'm so pleased with the finished product. I'm loving all over this bag.
Bag Cam Closeup!
Pretty.
Thank you for all of your wonderful comments welcoming our new car. It really is a great car.
This entry was brought to you by the sentiment: great.

Glad to see the petunia made it through-who knows what I would have done to her.
The bag is fab! I can understand the love.

We of the warm weather of the west salute you, our humid eastern brethren (and sistren?)(not cistern), in the surviving the sweltering summer of '06.
We have plenty of the DIRECT SUN you mention, but I fear you'd be handing back a pretty blue bucket of crispy sticks to your MIL if the pertunia vacatined here.
Your FMB is tres, tres chic!
(That's French for GREAT)
I use mine as my knitting bag--it was the first thing I ever knitted for myself!
Well done--no, wait, GREAT job!

Love that bag!
I'm so glad everyone survived sleep away camp. I always worry about the little ones getting homesick and/or lonesome.
I'm trying to send you cool breezes. I think it's Mel Gibson's fault it's taking so long.

Oh yeah, that's why I moved to the Pac NW. I remember those East Coast summers...

Oh, your bag is LOVELY! Such great colors, and it looks like it felted beautifully. :-) I tried felting for the first time just last weekend, and it didn't go well--I think it needed another cycle in the wash. Oh well.
The petunias look healthy and vibrant--good job! :-)

We've got the hotter-inside-than-outside thing going on too and it stinks. But the heat is less oppressive today so maybe I can bring myself to do some things, like carry up all the things I've been leaving at the bottom of the stairs. I just don't have the energy to lug heavy stuff when just sitting here causes me to break a sweat.
Nice market bag!

I really do need to finish up my FMB - and I love yours! Beautiful colors :o)
It's 84 in my Living Room and it's almost midnight. Even better - my upstairs window a/c unit is not working so good and, because someone didn't angle it correctly, the condensation has filled the windowsill, run down the INSIDE of the wall and formed a small lake in my daughter's room. Fun times.
Either way, it's like 10 degrees cooler at my house - come on over and hang out, we can watch the waterfall coming from upstairs ;o)

My indoor/outdoor thermometer says 80 inside, 72 out... YIPPEE!! I'm sure other parts of the house are cooler, and probably some still warmer -- we have an oldie that we try to keep comfy with two window AC units and fans. I got my electric bill yesterday -- holy crap, the biggest ever -- and thank goodness for the relief.

I know, I know . . . I'm just so, so grateful for a/c. And so is Chappy!

Camp Pertunia? Be careful, that's how knicknames are made! (NO, I am not saying how I know this to be true.)
Yeah, this sticky muggiy $%*& can be gone none to soon for me. I think it's because there are too many of you knit bloggers on vacation at one time. It's upsetting the balance of the natural order. Or, blame it on Mel Gibson, he's behind everything EVIL!

P.S. I need one of those indoor-outdoor thermometer thingies.
Where does one get one of those? And does it stick wires out some opening in the house, or what?

BAG CAM!!!!! Makeup!
I think I just made that up. Or it's fragmented memories from some SNL sketch from my hazy past. I don't know.
Anyhoo, AWESOME BAG. I love those colors. I may have to do another one soon, and in colors very similar to those. Love it.

Sheesh, girl. It's too hot in there! Better go sit in the car & turn the A/C on. Whee!
The French Market bag looks terrific!! Nice color combo!

Love the felting! Very nice. I'm glad the petunia survived - there's no way I would've taken on that responsibility.
It is damn hot.

Beautiful petunia, I have to admit. Funny story how it came in to your care. Glad it survived the week.
Lovely french market bag, too!

Mercy - that is some kind of hot weather for you folks. We regularly have that kind of heat, but we are much better prepared for it than you. Of course we would not be able to withstand the cold you all have.
