08.25.2006 :: Today, I am 45 years old!
By the way, TODAY, August 25th is my birthday! Yup! My teasing is now done! Thank you all for playing along.
Now, my picture problem here is not a mouse problem after all because I tried to upload pictures from Derek's computer to no avail. So, while I struggle to figure things out (which should only take a year or so, that is how much I know) I uploaded the pictures onto the Saturday Sky blog. Meh. It's better than nothing. So, read here. See there.
Today is move in day for Bethany at UNH. This day is certain to be fraught with mixed emotions. I will look forward to some special packages when I get home.
Pictures will be taken. And I have more thoughts. But for now, my teasing is done. Thanks for playing along!

The college thing doesn't have to be sad. I told my daughter (just last year) that I would cry, probably to an embarrassing extent and that she would just have to deal with it. She just laughed! And in the end, I shed no tears, never even felt like it. I think I just knew this was the right place for her and that she would always be true to herself. Which meant we'd still be close.
And we are. And she'd a call me as she wandered between classes.

Happy Birthday! Thanks for the fun of "Today is not my birthday" leading up to the big day.
Hope moving your daughter to college goes well. Sounds like she must be going to college close to home. Last year I took my daughter to college in Oregon (I live in Wyoming) I could not give her a hug and tell her goodbye, I just had to leave without saying anything or making a big deal out of it or I would have cried so hard I would not have been able to drive away. Even though it is a tough day you wouldn't want it any other way, be proud of her and of yourself for being such a good parent and raising a good kid.
By the way...It took me about one weekend to get used to having an empty nest--Wow the freedom!!!.

We must be semi-local to each other.. I live about 10 miles south of Keene. It's move in weekend at KSC and I am already planning my errands around how to avoid the worst of the traffic.

and on a different topic all together, my mother said something very odd to me the last time i spoke to her on the phone. we were talking about a little cousin of mine, who at the tender age of 16 was put on a plane by her grandmother and sent to england by herself (she doesn't speak english). (i was shocked by the way, and convinced that her grandmother is losing her mind). anyway, when i went away to college, my parents put me on a plane to the US with two suitcases and a typewriter. at the time, i thought it was just a rite of passage and the kind of thing that everyone did and that i needed to suck it up. anyway, my mother apologized to me for doing that to me, saying that she should have gone with me. weird huh. after 25 years.
anyway, i can't imagine what you are feeling as you take your little girl off to college, but i hope it's not a sad day. and like you said, you have presents waiting for you when you get home.
