08.31.2006 :: Look up in the sky! It's a sock!

What's inside my wonderful fishy bag?

Sometimes a pattern and yarn fits together so well, it's serendipitous.
Sandy's Sky Brew yarn, dyed by the dyemaster himself and a pattern called Partly Cloudy from the sock of the month club at Fiber Nooks and Crannies.(May 2003, for those who may clamor)
It's sort of like peanut butter and jelly. A perfect fit.
A good sign:

The hydrangeas are taking on their autumn hue. Whoohoo!
Bite me!
Something bit Andy on the leg. The frontrunners are spider, flea and tick. I can't bring myself to think beyond that list. They are icky enough. He went to the doctore who diagnosed lyme disease. I'm not sure. I see classic infection when I look at it. It is worrying me. The spot is now about the size of an orange and has the angriest purple color I have ever seen on a body. He is on antibiotics, I'm just hoping it's the right one.
Think healthy ankles, please!

The sock is the loveliest I've seen in a while. Whomever dyed this yarn is ingenious. Hydrangeas are lovely, too.

Oh I'm thinking good thoughts for healthy ankles.
Those socks are great!! I bet the fish is happy with those to chomp on.
Oh how I adore hydrangeas!!

I love that colourway,I was thinking of doing it today but was esitant and now after seeing I will go ahead!!!I have some Gaywool dye that is more of a denim but am buying sone in sky later so these will be work today!
Keep an eye on that bite! Often the bite itself is minor ,its the fungal infection you have to be aware of!
Hydrangeas can change colour with the PH of the soil so you can go to blue from pink or white simply by changing the Ph (look in the nursery for the additives) Hope that doesn't sound too Know all but have been looking them for years and haven't been game to try a pot plant yet, maybe when I get my new veranda!!!!

I bet a nice pair of partly cloudy socks would make Andy feel better.

Posted by: Stephanie on 09.02.2006 AT 07:27 PM

yes...the socks are lovely and live up to their name!

Posted by: Cindy D on 09.02.2006 AT 07:20 PM

Yikes! Healthy ankles!

The sock and the bag are adorable though.

The sock looks great! My son was recently bitten on the ankle by a spider. It swelled up pretty good but it wasn't purple! Hope Andy's ankle gets better soon.

Posted by: Cheryl on 09.01.2006 AT 08:06 PM

That is definitely a perfect fit of yarn and pattern! The dyemaster out did himself:)
Andy's ankle sounds awful. Sending healthy ankle energy your way!

Posted by: Deb on 09.01.2006 AT 01:29 PM

The pattern and the sock yarn do go hand in hand. They are going to be beautiful socks! Hope Andy's ankle gets better soon!

Posted by: Kelly on 09.01.2006 AT 12:03 PM

Ouch. Double ouch.

That is the quintessential sky sock, right there.

Posted by: claudia on 09.01.2006 AT 11:38 AM

what a perfect combo! Not only are the names serindipitious, but the yarn looks beautiful in that pattern!

Posted by: stacey on 09.01.2006 AT 10:24 AM

I love the sock! Though really, I don't think you could go wrong with that yarn. Any pattern would look marvelous. (Feather and Fan for another pair, maybe?)

Poor Andy! Ugh. I hope he's not in any pain. Maybe drinking lots of water will help flush whatever it is out of his system (?)

*de-lurks*
My son had mystery bites like that. They'd be 4-5" across and very hot/sore/angry-looking. We were told each time that it was spider bite combined with infection. A week of antibiotics always fixed it right up, although it takes AGES for everything to completely return to the right color/shape. Hope you have the same luck and its nothing serious.

I hope your son's ankle clears up and it isn't Lyme Disease.

Love the sock. That yarn and that pattern do go well.

Posted by: Dorothy B on 09.01.2006 AT 09:44 AM

Poor Andy! Hopefully the antibiotics take care of infection and lyme's...

Posted by: Chris on 09.01.2006 AT 09:25 AM

Ooh, I am sorry to hear about your son's bite........it sounds unpleasant!

Your sock on the other hand is perfect! It looks like puffy clouds in the sky.....I love it!

Posted by: KIM on 09.01.2006 AT 09:20 AM

The sock! Oh, it's simply gorgeous!
Hope Andy's bite clears up soon.

Tell Kimberly that pink hydrangeas and blue hydrangeas are two different varieties -- and one likes limey soil (the pink) and one acid (the blue).

I can't believe how beautifully the sock and the pattern go together! Amazing! And I'm amazed you found it and/or remembered you had it (the pattern). So smart, you are.

I'm thinking healthy ankle thoughts. Poor Andy!

I love that Sandy's Sky, Partly Cloudy sock. Awesome!
Hope the ankle is healing - that Lymes Disease is really bad up there, huh? One thing I don't have to worry about in the south. We don't have a shortness on every other kind of bug on the planet though.

Posted by: Laurie on 09.01.2006 AT 06:57 AM

do i have to crochet a power ankle?

Posted by: maryse on 09.01.2006 AT 06:30 AM

I like that sock! Healing thoughts going out to Andy.

Posted by: Sydney on 08.31.2006 AT 11:54 PM

The sock looks great--and Andy? Hope he's okay!

Posted by: --Deb on 08.31.2006 AT 09:39 PM

The socks are looking good! Hope Andy gets better. I am so jealous; my hydrangeas keep staying blue. :( What I'd do for mine to be bright white!

You could ask the dr. if the antibiotics will cover other infections that he may have. Thing is, I would rather treat for Lyme than not, I think. Lyme can be really bad if untreated, but so can other infections if not treated as well.......

And there you have, wisdom from Teresa C. Have a great evening.

Posted by: Teresa C on 08.31.2006 AT 08:48 PM

Ouch. I hope all goes well for him. Maybe he needs some specais socks? And those socks are looking pretty cool.

Posted by: Dave Daniels on 08.31.2006 AT 08:44 PM

Beautiful yarn, fantastic pattern!

And that sounds like lyme disease to me - but the meds should knock out an infection anyhow.

Posted by: meg on 08.31.2006 AT 08:39 PM

Big healthy ankle thoughts coming at you from over here, Andy!

Your hydrangeas are so beautiful. Dang, I wish we could grow them here.

I'm gonna go over to that fish sock bag lady's place and order that pattern RIGHT NOW. It's too cute!!!

Posted by: Kim on 08.31.2006 AT 07:25 PM

Those socks are too too perfect for you - lovely!

Posted by: Theresa on 08.31.2006 AT 07:21 PM

Damn bugs! Love the sky sockie and the fabulous hydrangea! MWWAAHH!

Posted by: margene on 08.31.2006 AT 07:15 PM

That's the prettiest blue in that yarn.

Here's some healing thoughts headed Andy's way.

Posted by: Beth on 08.31.2006 AT 05:49 PM

I'm jealous of everything, but Andy's ankle. I hope the meds start to work their magic soon!
