09.28.2006 :: Sky sock

Look! Up in the sky! Is it a cloud? Is it partly cloudy?

Actually, it's sunny. But there is one finished partly cloudy sock!

I feel a lot of love for this sock. The yarn? The pattern? It's all warm and fuzzy to me!

I don't know how you people do it!
I have been feeling stressed out lately. Always in a rush. Always behind on everything. A day late and a blog entry short. I tip my handknit hat to you. I can't seem to get my shit together lately. I'm sure it's a sign of something, but I can't imagine what.

Hi Sandy, My daughter told me that she remembered helpful words I said during her break up: Just as how you have to give a relationship a chance, you have to give a break up a chance. Give it time enough to gain some perspective and to become comfortable with it's place in your life and heart. That's not to say it's not going to hurt, but it's not fair not to give it some time.

I know I didn't feel that way at her age though.

Gorgeous!!

Posted by: Kim on 10.08.2006 AT 11:30 AM

Hey, this sock is absolutely cool. Wanna one like that, too!! ;-)
Thanks for the inspiration.

About you feeling late: Wouldn't worry. In my perception it's a global thing. Helps you to check your priorities. In moments like that, I always tell myself: one thing after another just as making one step after another when walking.

All the same:
Have a beautiful day, today.
:-)

Gorgeous socks!!

LOL - I personally DON'T manage it very well. That's probably why I'm so far behind in bloglines all the time.

What a fun sock!

Can I jump on board with you? I can't seem to get my shit together either. Let's sail away somewhere fun and forget everything. Avoidance tactic #30067

Hugs,

The sock is such a gorgeous color and the pattern is perfect! Wonderful job! Oh how well, I can relate to the rest of the entry ... am there myself!

Posted by: Sandee on 09.30.2006 AT 03:11 PM

I love that sock. I'm not big on doing socks with patterns but I like that one. What is that pattern?

Posted by: Saun on 09.30.2006 AT 10:06 AM

Love the sock and that pattern is so cool!

Posted by: Kelly on 09.30.2006 AT 09:02 AM

Sandy, I don't think I've ever seen a sock yarn and pattern more perfectly suited for each other... I love it!

Posted by: Teri P on 09.30.2006 AT 06:30 AM

Sock is lovely. I am totally relate to the rest.

Posted by: Kathy on 09.29.2006 AT 09:42 PM

I love those socks! They look so...squishy and comfy and structured at the same time.

I hear you on the stressed out rush thing. I keep hearing myself saying "focus!" Like I've got a deadline for my knitting. It takes a bit of the fun out of it.

Posted by: Carrie K on 09.29.2006 AT 04:28 PM

Love the socks. They look so comfy.

Posted by: Dorothy B on 09.29.2006 AT 01:16 PM

Lovely sock Sandy. One day at a time!

Posted by: Nicole on 09.29.2006 AT 12:14 PM

Oh, it's beautiful! :-) Just holding that sock in your two hands must feel wonderful. (Sock therapy: it may not help but at least it can't hurt, right?)

I think something is in the air. Change of seasons. Restlessness. I keep picking projects up and putting them down and opening books to find new ones. And it isn't just the knitting, either, but all kinds of things.

I love that sock and the yarn!! :D

What pattern is that? It's awesome.

Posted by: KnittyOtter on 09.29.2006 AT 11:07 AM

Wow! When you get stressed, beautiful things happen! I think it's cycles we go through. (not THOSE)

Posted by: Carol on 09.29.2006 AT 10:52 AM

Oh I'm going through the same thing. The world is flying by and I'm not able to keep up. I think I'll go and knit my sock now. That seems to be the only thing keeping me sane.

Posted by: Kimberly on 09.29.2006 AT 10:50 AM

I so know what you mean - I always feel like there is way too much to do and not nearly enough time to do it!

The sock is wonderful! Does the pattern stretch and flatten out when put on?

Posted by: stacey on 09.29.2006 AT 08:29 AM

Honestly, I think it's our culture that puts a lot of that harried pressure on us. If we're relaxed, we're not doing enough, not working hard enough, and thus lazy bums. I don't think you can ever be on top of it all, you can only pick and choose what you can handle and what you're okay with letting go.

Big words from a girl who's ALWAYS a day late and 6 posts behind on her blog. ;)

Posted by: Jackie on 09.29.2006 AT 08:18 AM

No matter how stressed, isn't it just so cool to make something like that? Beautiful!

Posted by: Theresa on 09.29.2006 AT 03:27 AM

fabUlous sock! and I totally hear you on the "augh, I'm running behind" thing. Yep, same here. Hang in there, and you can always knit!

Posted by: Terri on 09.29.2006 AT 01:09 AM

Love it! You'll have sky socks for all different weather days.
Sit, breath, stop (not breathing just stop thinking) and relax with some tea and your knitting. No reason to rush through life.

Outstanding! I love those blues.
Chocolate?

Posted by: Barb on 09.28.2006 AT 10:44 PM

Aw, the socks are beautiful!! The wavy cable is just perfect.

Posted by: --Deb on 09.28.2006 AT 10:43 PM

I love the socks! Reminds me of bouncing on clouds. :) Must be something about the month. I'm feeling stressed and frazzled this month.

Posted by: Sydney on 09.28.2006 AT 10:38 PM

I LOVE the socks, I think the yarn is from Dave, but what pattern is it????

Posted by: Carla on 09.28.2006 AT 09:36 PM

YOU SAID SHIT!!!!

I'm floored. :)

But that sock is a work of wonder. I love it so, and I can surely see why YOU love it.

Bleh, I have a lot of work to do before I sleep. Don't know if I'm going to make it. ..... bleh....

Posted by: Norma on 09.28.2006 AT 09:29 PM

Just lovely! The pattern and the color compliment each other so well!

Posted by: Leah on 09.28.2006 AT 09:27 PM

I'd agree wtih Meg on the long walk, may be over to the ocean. Take some pictures. Just walk and relax.
The socks are SO pretty, they're perfect!

The change in seasons seems to affect a lot of people in different ways, sometimes negatively. Hopefully that's all it is. Lovely sky socks!

Posted by: Emma on 09.28.2006 AT 06:59 PM

You're singing my song, Sandy! Everytime I think I'm caught up, I seem to get flooded with more. Seasonal? And your baby has flown the nest. You've got a lot going on. Just go one day at a time. :)

Posted by: Donna on 09.28.2006 AT 06:56 PM

that is one gorgeous combination of pattern and yarn and sky! Perfect, Sandy! I love it!

Posted by: jess on 09.28.2006 AT 06:51 PM

I LOVE those socks...What yarn? Who's pattern? Your photo's of flowers are beautiful, makes me miss summer (it is a very dreary fall day today).

Posted by: Shirani on 09.28.2006 AT 05:50 PM

Beautiful sock! The pattern is great, and the yarn is just perfect for it.

My solution for stress? A long walk (if possible) and make a list of everything that is on your mind, so that at least you aren't stressed about forgeting to do something!

Posted by: meg on 09.28.2006 AT 05:29 PM

Happy socks - at least, they make me happy. They should be the perfect antidote for grey skies! Well done!

Posted by: Barbara-Kay on 09.28.2006 AT 05:24 PM

Great sock! Is that the birthday yarn from Dave?

Posted by: Carole on 09.28.2006 AT 04:41 PM

Love that sock! Love the pattern. Love the yarn.

Love!

How about some deep breaths, some screaming in the car and a diet coke? ;^) *hugs* I hope it gets better, sweetie.
