11.05.2006 :: Novemburrrr
I'm afraid that if I carry on for any length of time today, this may turn into a whiney, complainey, bitchy blog post. And I really don't want to do that. I'm tired. I'm headachey. That's all I'm going to say about that.
But. I did get to host the family last night for Father In Law's Birthday. There is nothing I like better, lately, than cooking a meal for people that I love. I enjoy seeing everyone sit down and taste the flavors that I have concocted. It touches something way down inside my soul. It's a good thing.
But don't you have family members (Or perhaps even yourself, although, us being us, yarn is always an appropriate and encouraged gift) that you cannot for the life of you figure out what to buy them? They have everything and then some that they need in life. One more shirt will topple the pile of shirts in their home. Knicknacks? Dust collectors. Hobbies? Done to death. What do you get them? We usually rely on the old standard, gift certificates. This year, I also got for my father in law a flock of chicks. And it was so warmly received, I am grateful and thrilled and it brings tears to my eyes. There will be more Heifer gifts being given this Christmas season. Won't you consider giving chicks? Or ducks? Sheep, rabbits, trees, honeybees or even a heifer?
I love, I love, I love my calendar girl
Deb is holding a contest to show what is on your November page of your calendar! Novemburr is one of my favorite months, over the river and through the woods kind of thing.
Here's my Novembrrrrr Calendar page! How about yours? It's fun to see all the variety!
My walls are not yellow, by the way. It's the Novembrr light. Or lack of!
My knit
I'm knitting almost exclusively on the roommate scarf. Morehouse merino pink yarn, for those who wish to ask.
This is the Irish Hiking Scarf pattern. I love knitting it. I'm thinking my Red Scarf will be this pattern too. You ARE doing a red scarf, aren't you?
My father was an orphan without really being an orphan so I feel a special closeness to this project. This year, I will knit red and not light red. (not PINK, like last years!)
WARM HANDS
The Warm Hands blog has a new home! I decided that I cannot keep up with the updates like I should so I found a new home for the blog. Knitters can post their own updates to the blog. Wordpress may be the death of me yet. I have been dealing with issues all weekend long. It is still not running smoothly yet, so patience is needed there. But I am excited about it's new direction! Have a look!
Today
I have a crock pot of baked beans cooking, making the house smell heavenly and 2 hungry college students to feed and get back to their respective universities. Life has been filled to the brim with happiness and goodness. So, I'm wondering why I have a headache!
:)

When the Heifer catalogue showed up at our place, I handed it to The Boy and said "Ya know, if any of our friends are wondering what to get me, you might want to hand them this catalogue. So you know." Here's to hoping that something comes of it.

ok, nice warm hands blog and all, but now you're going to get messages about how to post on it.
at least from me anyway.

Stripes and cables, that's why you have a headache! Keeping track of when to change the yarn AND when to turn the cable would give me one, too. But the effect is lovely. :-)

Your scarf looks great! I'm using the Irish hiking scarf pattern for a red scarf and the pattern is a lot of fun. Hope your feeling better!

I'm right there with you! Good life, feeling lousy today. In my case it's sinuses. Maybe you too!
Love the pink scarf. And thanks for the Heifer idea. What to get is a frequent gift giving quandry around here.
Feel better!

Aw, Linus and Lucy! Thanks for the calendar page! And Heifer really is a great idea as a gift for someone who already has everything--especially when the someone is appreciative of the charitable effort. Good idea!

Sounds like the birthday was lots of fun- Heifer is a great gift for someone who has everything and it feels really good deep down to be helping someone out in the process.
Love how that scarf is turning out!
Not sure I'm loving the Burr cold that goes along with Novemburr esp when it involves taking a new puppy out to pee at 2 am and the temp is 23 F.

I'm happy that you're happy. Sorry about the headache, though.

She says it's all good, but you know she'll be yelling if it's pink. Did I tell you she called me a nut the other day and was swearing at me in e-mail yesterday? o.0
Did you have workmen arrive next door at 7:38 this morning? That's where my headache came from.
I hope you feel better soon, sweetie. Enjoy that houseful while you've got them! *hugs*

1) You guys will be tooting all the way back to college!
2) What, do you have something against yellow walls?
3) Haha! That's funny!

5) Chicks = AWESOME.
6) Warm hands. Nice.
