01.25.2007 :: Green Mountain Spinnery Hat finished just in time for frigid cold

Andy's hat is finished. Again. This time it fits well without the conehead effect, which honestly is not flattering on anyone no matter what they tell you!

I bought a straggly looking forgotten amaryllis on clearance the other day. I thought I'd do a new daily (or so) feature called AMARYLLIS CAM. It has been planted for about a week and I finally see some small progress. Which if you've had amaryllis before means there will be large progress soon!

Go, little amaryllis, go!

Hi Sandy,

Really like the hat:) I just bought Cascade 220 to knit something similar. Couldn't find this pattern either. I'll just look at a few others til I find something I like.

Cool hat!

What a great and warm hat! We had that frigid weather a few weeks back and it spurred warm accessory knitting in me, too.

Cool hat, especially with the ear flaps. I guess the weather is getting to everybody. I've seen a bunch of hats popping up latelyl. Hmmm. Wonder why.

We used to give amaryllises to our elderly relatives for Christmas, to give them something to watch. Now I am addicted to watching them grow, but my cat loves them so much she pushes the stalks right off the bulb. I will live vicariously through the Amaryllicam!

The hat is lovely. I also finished a hat (much plainer) for my hatless husband just in time...

That is a super hat! I really, really like it. It reminds me of one I bought once but this one is just way better!

I love Green Mountain Spinnery. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and I love Mountain Mohair. How's the alpaca elegance to work with?

Great hat!

I like the amaryllis cam. Yeah, but you knew I was a weirdo. :p

Awesome hat and just in time too- brrr.
My mom's amaryllis which a friend gave her and I now own, sprouted 10 days ago and the stalk , no lie, is 18 inches tall already and it's a fragrant one. They are so much fun to watch. By the looks of the base of the stalk on yours, it will probably sport a gorgeous red bloom!

Look...you can grow stuff! That is way more than I can do. And, nice hat.

LOVE the hat, Sandy.
Back in 1992 Dan and I were driving through Vermont on the way to my grandparents. Daniel was a baby. We were tired and it was late so we pulled over to a motel in a little town called Putney. In the early morning light, when I opened the curtain to look out the window, Green Mtn Spinnery was right across the street! I don't think I'd even heard of it before then. I'd been knitting for a few years but had just started spinning a few months before. Heaven.

Very nice warm, hat! My amaryllis has shown no sign of blooming, but I have two hyacinth blossoms, and it smells sweet already.
