02.08.2007 :: green sweater, green thumb, green arms, green buttons

DSC08214.JPG
I mentioned my green mountain spinnery sweater, colorway moss coming to an end. The sleeves decreases are all wrong, rather clownlike. I "tried" to "fix" it, see the difference in the top/left sleeve? Yeah. Great job fixing that problem, huh? Most of my problem, which took me until I was done the second sleeve is that I used the wrong needle size when I got down to DPN's. Wrong needle size by 2 too small. You can see that in the knitting can't you? Yes, so can I. Now. I kept staring at it and rubbing it with my hands, hoping that the yarn would tell me what was wrong, why did it look so....you know...squished? Brilliant. Well, it's nothing that can't be fixed. And wouldn't I love LOVE to put Moving Mud buttons on this gorgeous sweater? (the pattern is the knitting pure and simple v neck cardigan) I wonder how THESE (CLICK) would look? The bottom row, second to the last?
I will ponder and see what happens, buttonwise.
Speaking of pondering. I ordered the Blue Beaverslide yarn. What a wonderful company to deal with. The poll was fun and thanks for chiming in! 3 of you, though are tired of my unproductive knitting! :)
AMARYLLIS CAM!
Donna Lily looks as if she may not grow extremely tall, I think she's just perfect!

Hard to tell if there's any difference in her height. But look at her bud!

How exciting!
I was asked if the plant next to Donna Lily is a basil plant. It is not. My kitchen is not condusive to growing herbs. I've tried. It is a kalanchoe plant. It has gorgeous flowers when it blooms. I find that any blooming houseplant goes through a shock when it comes here. It loses it's flowers, looks kind of pathetic for a while and then settles in and will bloom again. I figure it's like a freshman at college, longing for home. They all adjust! So, Ms. Kalanchoe is still in her adjustment stage. It's hit or miss for her right now. I love a challenge!

Leggy little thing!

Drat. I was hoping you could give me some hints on growing basil indoors because I've not had any luck whatsoever. And we ate the last of the pesto from the freezer for dinner last night. Hurry up summer!

You don't want her getting too tall or she'll get top heavy and fall over. o.0

OK, those buttons look like fish eyes but they are gorgeous! and will be even better once positioned on the sweater :)
You could cut the lower part of that "funny" sleeve off and knit down..well you know that!!
Can't wait to see the blue yarn in action.

Speaking of college freshmen, how's yours doing? Second semester is often a lot better. . .

Can't wait to see that sweater FINISHED. Get those cuffs fixed, girl. That is just a hoot. I love those buttons, but not so much the ones that look like pimento-stuffed olives. :)

Very nice. I have given up on my amaryllis blooming, but I have a new baby African violet. I like the blue yarn, too.

Hey Donna Lily:

Nice bud!

Kalanchoes bloom for me at work, I think it's the lighting. But at home - not so much.

I am watching my namesake with growing excitement, you know!

Mine is blooming- 4 fragrant flowers atop a 2 1/2- 3 foot stalk. Make sure you stake yours. The blooms are heavy and the stalk can break from the shear weight of it all.

I laughed at your poll,I chose the blue like most others, its gorgeous!
As for your flower,I seem to see a lot of candystripes around so I hope its a deep dark red like the one I especially ordered in for myself and a friend Xmas 05!

Kalanchoes are notoriously hard to get to bloom at home. I got one to bloom a wee bit, but nothing like what it was like when I brought it home.

I have an amaryllis that's about to bloom. :) That makes three of my recycled amaryllis bulbs that bloomed this year. (The other three are puny... I think they started life as offshoots, and haven't had enough time to grow.) I should post a photo... perhaps when the buds open.
