02.10.2007 :: Fig vs. The Sweater
Round 1:
Washing day for the Buffalo Brownski Peace Fleece Everyday Cardigan. The washing was not the problem, it's the drying. Or trying. This keeps happening:

Fig Vs. Buffalo Brownski. Fig is quoted as saying, "but it's so comfy!"
Round 2:
There will be no pictures. Strap on your imagination hats, believe me, you'll thank me later!
Fig vs. Green Mountain Spinnery sweater, that is sitting neatly folded in the knitting basket next to the couch, minding it's own business, mind you. It has done nothing to provocate the attack. I came home from work yesterday and was witness to cat gak all over the sweater. Fig THREW UP on my not yet finished sweater. People, I thought of taking a picture. I did. But I could not make myself do it. It could have been the look of death that Bethany gave me when she saw the gleam in my eye. The look of death quickly became a look of disgust and I realized that she was right. College is certainly teaching her some things. Pictures of cat gak on a sweater are probably highly discouraged. Most definitely reviled and downright prohibited when people may have sensitive tummies.
So, no picture. But you can see the mental mess, can't you?
What does fig have against a good handknit, anyway?

Eeek, thank you for not posting a picture of that. That moment of hesitation on your part is worth every penny of college tuition. Fig dear, really, there are better ways of getting attention...really.

Ok, time to make Fig into a Newton!! ;)

Honestly, we get our blog fodder in mysterious ways, do we not? It is pretty damn funny, Sandy (in a very sad, mourning for you and the wool way, of course), and I know exactly what you mean about grabbing the camera. Thank goodness for daughters.

Oh Yuk.....
On the other hand ,what colour is your Belladonna?

To be honest, I don't know if my cat would have survived this show of disapproval of my knitting talent. I hope the sweater survived this attack.

I love to watch the amaryllis! My amaryllis pic went up January 18 on my blog. Great minds, eh?
Posted by: Baubo on 02.11.2007 AT 06:59 PM
I guess Fig disapproves of your choice of color, or something. ;-)
Still... ugh. How awful! I hope you can salvage the sweater.

Well, Fig is not eating the thread! Mine attacks wool balls, they belong to Her alone.

Oh geez Louise...now I gotta clean coffee spew off my computer! Please warn the innocents next time!

Hmmmm... maybe that is his not so subtle way of telling you he wants something handknitted too??? A kitty Pi maybe???
Thanks for not posting that pic :) The one thing that keeps me from getting a kitty is the possibility of them throwing up... it is also the reason I have no kids so far...
Cheers Eva

Ewwwww! There's nothing worse than cat and dog pewk! And the clean up? Double ewww! My sympathies to you- really!

Poor sweater-Did Fig have a hairball?
Posted by: Paula on 02.10.2007 AT 07:37 PM
OMG! that is so awful! my kids having the flu for 5 days totally wiped out my knitting time just cuz i wasn't gonna let them near it! when you soak it, maybe the vodka thing will help get rid of any pukey stuff?
Posted by: heatherly on 02.10.2007 AT 03:35 PM
UGH.....been there, experienced that!!! And don't they just ALWAYS choose the most "un-appropriate" places to leave their presents?????
I swear sometimes my cat does it on PURPOSE.....payback for something I unknowingly did!
Hope you can salvage the sweater!!!

At least, the Fig fur won't stand out too much on that sweater. ;^)

Oh dear! Naughty Fig!

I live in fear of our cats throwing up on hand knits. I usually dry hand knits on our radiators. First I lay a beach towel down. Then the handknit, then a thin old pillowcase on top. So far we've been spared.....

Score one for Fig.
Posted by: claudia on 02.10.2007 AT 12:04 PM
Ohhhhh, ewwwwwwwww. Thank you, Bethany, for sparing us the photo. !!!
Vincent does the same thing, btw (NOT the gak part) with my drying sweaters. What is it about the smell of wet wool that draws them? He doesn't just lie on them, though -- he has to dig and move them around and rub his smell on them. all the while I screech and yell and worry about pulls in the sweaters.

I am so sorry. I have been there, too, and it isn't pretty.
Ummm, big bottle of Soak?

Sorry about the cat puke. I washed all my socks yesterday and had them all arranged beautifully around the woodstove. This morning Mason was taking a nice nap while laying across them. But he's more respectful than Fig. He saves his throw up for the carpet.

Oh no! That Fig!
Posted by: Kathy on 02.10.2007 AT 11:34 AM
I'm just as happy that you left it to my imagination.
